Mrs. Rutledge Qualifies
In School Board Race
Mrs. Rutledge, wife of John A.
Rutledge official with Advanced
Tool and Die Engineering Co.,
has qualified as a candidate for
school board member from the
Riverdale district. Election will
be held April 4.
Mrs. Rutledge is a graduate
of Roosevelt high school. Since
graduation she attended college
four years and had additional

rollton. She has been a resident

To the newcomers, let me sc; I was born in Lovejoy and raised
in Clayton County, and I have lived in Jonesboro practically all
my life.
• I was a City Councilman in Jonesboro for two terms.
• For 10 years I operated a fleet of school buses in Clayton
County until the County bought its own buses and began
operating them.
• Presently I have a cattle farm and deal in waste cotton
and am part-time employe of the Complete Auto Transit
Co. I have been in their employ for 12 years.

Clayton 4-H Installs Officers
The January meeting of the
County 4-H program and elec
tion and Installation of officers
for 1964.
The council’s service project
for this quarter will be to
_. determine the swimming ability
of the boys and girls of school
age In Clayton County. A sur
vey will be conducted in all
of the schools in the county
and the results tabulated. This
compiled information will be
used by the Clayton County Wat
er Safety Committee to plan
swimming instruction at differ
ent areas in the county.

CHANCE TO DO ANYTHING LIKE THIS.
HE WAS TOO BUSY RAISING A FAMILY
DRIVING A CAB IN THE DAY TIME, GOING
TO LAW SCHOOL. BUT WHEN HE FINALLY
WORKED HIS WAY UP TO THE TOP, HE
FIGURED IT WAS TIME “TO GIVE SOME
THING BACK.’’
THAT’S WHY HE RAN FOR MAYOR OF
RIVERDALE. WITH THE HELP OF HIS
CITY COUNCIL, HE WROTE A SUPERB
RECORD OF CIVIC ACHIEVEMENT. THAT’S

Mrs. James Lucas gave an
enlighten report on what the
children really expect of their
parents today. Our Cub Troop
485 presented the flag.
The PTA membership voted
to give our honorary life mem
bership to Mrs. E. L. Swlney.
Mrs. Jewel Dawson announced
that Sunday, Feb 9 and 16 are
the days to get your free Oral
Polio Vaccine. Type 1 will be
available from 12 noon to 5
p.m. at Forest Park High. A
Study Group will be held Feb.
19 beginning at 9:30. This is
a continuation from Jan. 30.
