Feel like every paycheck is spent before it’s cashed? Then get
at the head of the line, and pay yourself first . . . by making a
deposit to your savings account.
The amount you can spare for yourself may be small, but the
important thing is to make the Savings Deposit Habit a regular
one. It’s the fastest way there is to make money grow and earn
interest for you.

These solemn occasions have

The alarming rate of divorce
in our county and across the
country has led me to explain
several factors in marriage
which are most vital, They are
the spiritual, the economic and
the physical,
The most important part of any
home {is the spiritual foundation,
Every couple that marries
needs to give themselves per=
sonally to Jesus Christ and then
to find a church home together
where- they «canworship, serve
and support lits world-wide
ministry, Families need the
solid foundatfon of a common
faith and a place of family wor=
ship, Each family needs a time

experience of daily bible read=
ing and prayer helps to
strengthen the family ties and
binds the members together
with common experiences in
Christ,
The economic structure of the
modern family is a complex
one, Many homes begin with
both spouses working and if
one has to quit for any rea=-
- gon, the financial structure be=-
gin® to crumble and often falls,
It is well to establish the home
on one income if atall possible,
A second income can be a real
asset on a temporary basis
to catch up or to make a pur=
chase or to plan for the future,
The planning needs to be made
in such away that there is a
joy in the unfon rather than
bickering and struggling over
money, Money is an important
phase of married life but it
should be a help rather than
a hindrance.
The physical aspect of mar=
riage is so important also.
Courtship should continue
throughout married life, Many
relationships are prepared by
God for marriage and marriage
alone, When love in its early
stages matures into its full
»beauty, marriage fulfills God’s
_desires for His children and
brings enduring joy to the fam
ily, Yes indeed--those whom
God hath joined together let
not man put asunder,
but musicians and singers
should be able to sight read,
Among the plays included in
this year’s Festival are ‘‘ Twel=
th Night,”” ¢Where’s Charlie?,”
¢¢Camino Real,” and a new my=
stery melodrama ¢‘The Man

Epilepti
How many people do you know
who have epilepsy?
You might be surprised if you
knew, but you probably don’t,
because due to the medical ad=
vances in the past few years, at
least 80 per cent of cases are
under complete or partial cone
trol, so that the epileptic can
lead an essentially normal life,
There {s nothing to set him a=-
part from anybody else, unless
he has a seizure,
Then, too, it is a thing that
the eplleptic is not likely to
discuss with his friends or
acquaintances, Why? Because
of the social stigma, not yet
entirely dispelled, which has
been attached to it throughout
the years, With enlightened pub=
lic understanding of this great=
ly misunderstood condition,
there is no longer justifica=-
tion for outdated attitudes,
which have imposed such hea=
vy penalties and burdens upon
the sufferer,
In Metropolitan Atlanta, there
are an estimated 16,000 epi=
leptics, and a new one is being
added to the fast-growing popu=
lation at the rate of one every
24 hours, Seven or eight out of
every 100 children will have
at least one seizure at some
time in their lives, according
to a local neurologist., The in=-
cidence among children is con=
siderably higher than among
adults, as it is frequently out
grown, particularly with prompt
diagnosis and treatment, It is
clearly a growing problem in
our city and its environs,

This Country’s Primary Need
What this country needs, be=

less politics,
1S watchdog'
committee of
reputable peo=
ple drawn
from all the
50 states to
sit in with
and keep a
wary eye upon
Congress and
the President,
I mentioned
this a few weeks ago but some
vital statistics revealed last
week by G, Paul Jones, who has
entered the lists for U,S, Re=
presentative from the Sixth Dis
trict, points up this tremene
dously aching void,
Actually, the President should
be keeping an eye on Congress
and Congress upon the presi
dential department, Mainly, in
the financial end, But they don’t,
President Johnson just says a
word or twists an arm and
gets anything, or the OK to do
anything, his heart desires.
Johnson exerts so much
authority over the various Sen
ators and Congressmen, indivi=-
dually and collectively, few if
any of them would dareto op=
pose him on an issue,
Truth is, Johnsonhas accumu=
lated more raw power, grind
ing power than any President
in America’s history, not even
excepting Franklin D, Roose=
velt, And he doesn’t hesitate
to use it,
Paul Jones has dug deep into
the ramifications of the Pre
sidential office and he comes
up with some startling figures,
which if only two-thirds abso=-
lute fact, would substantiate his
charge of ““fiscal fakery in the
Great Society,”
““The Democrats have just
rammed through the House of
Representatives another ine
crease in the National debt li=
mit,”” Jones writes, ¢“lt is now
a staggering $330 billion, In=
terest on this debt is sl2 bil=-
lion per year, It is the second
largest item in the budget and it
will increase SBO million by this
latest venture into inflationary
deficit financing by the Great
Society, . .
““The present Congress has set
a new record for uncontrolled
spending. Do you realize what
this has done to our economy?
Inflation has taken 14 cents out
of every dollar you earn com=
pared to 1960 when this spen=
dorama began, . . ol
“LBJ has asked Congress for
a truth=-in-packaging bill for
products the public buys, What
is needed is a truth-in-pack=
aging bill for the budget he
is trying to sell to the public,
“Recently he said the deficit
for next year will be less than
$2 billlon, A tremendous fi=
gure, but in the parlance of
Washington it lis considered
peanuts, However, how does this
smaller deficit figure come
about? By economy in govern=-
ment? Hardly, for spending is
rup $6.,2 billion, Federal em=-
ployment is up nearly 94,
000, The federal payrollisover
the sls billion mark,
“The government is on amas=
sive spending spree, You will
get the hangover in the form
of tax increases, debtincreases
and inflation that eats away at
your paycheck,
““The manipulation of budget
figures in merely hocus=-pocus
designed to cover up a real
frenzy of spending, For in=
stance, the budget was $87.8
billion in 1962 but this year it
is $112.8 billion, That’s an in=
crease of $25 billion--at the
same time the President swears
the gbvernment {is practicing
economy, Most of this increase
is in domestic spending, not in
extra money for defense or for
the Vietnam war,
“But the real deception being
practiced by President John=-
son and his monetary jugglers
is a series of one-shot deals
that will make this year’s bud=
get look good, but will not be a
premanent part of the federal
financial system,
“For example, just recently
he rammed through Congress
. what he called the Participa~
tion Sales Act, This is a cle=
ver way of spending more with
out having it show upinthe bud=
get, The government simply
borrows against its assets, It
spends the money, It pays back
the principal and interest, which
for the first $4.2 billion under
the program will total S2OO
million in tax dollars--taxes
collected from you, There is
no limit on this phoney re=
venue=-raising activity, Thus,
the government isdelving deep=
er in debt, borrowing against
the future, This method of de=~
celving you, the taxpayer, is
doubly dubjous because it adds
interest costs to the govern=
ment’s obligation, The money
costs you more in tax dollars
|that if the government were
isimply living within its income
‘and spending tax money as it
‘comes in instead of borrowing
money to be repaild with inter
est in years ahead,
¢“There are many other gim
micks beingused to whittle down
this year’s dificit, The Govern=
ment has sold $6 billion dol=-
lars worth of loans and other
THE FOREST PARK NEWS, TIURSDAY, JUNE 23, 1966
assets such as land, buildings,
surpluses and facilities, Thisis
a one-year, one-shot deal, In
actuality, the government will
spend sllß billion in 1967, but
claims ttisonly spending $112.8
billion, This means that by the
end of next year, your federal
government will cost you 36
per cent more thanitdidinl96l,
Think of it...in just five years
the cost of the Government
has gone up 36 per cent,..this
is inflationary spending, Thisis
increasing the cost of govern=
ment far beyond any need, or
beyond any services rendered,
‘“You paycheck was cut
during May, and will be less
the rest of the year because
LBJ wants to collect more
money in advance to make this
year’s deficit seem smaller,
You are making an interest=-
free loan to the government,
By turning out copper coins in
stead of silver, and by taking
more out of your paycheck, the
Treasury will realize added re
venues of $5 billlon, These are
just manipulations, They are
designed to cloak the wild
spending by LBJ in this elec=
tion year,
¢“Now, the President keeps
talking about increasing your
taxes again =-- using the Viet=-
nam war as an alibi, Don’t
let him fool you, Only 32 per
cent of the increase in feder=
al spending since 1961 can be
traced to the war and our de=
senses,
¢1 don’t belleve that you are
going to be taken in by the Pre=-
sident, or his push-button
spenders in the majority party
in Congress, It’s your money
and your future being tamper=-
ed with, It's your paycheck
that has been cut, and will be
cut again with higher taxes un=
less you send Republicans to
Congress who will represent
you in Washington, instead of
being of being LBJ’s men in
Congressional Districts,
¢“The future you save may
well be your own,”
This writer -applauds Mr,
Jones for digging into the go=-
vernment’s bag of money tricks,
And, as said, it adds strength
to the assertion that we need
a watchdog committee of hon=
est and honorable citizc 3 from
all over the nation to k@ep a=

duggery that’s going on--and
prevent it where they can,
Just how such a committee
