On the same date, July 29 a year ago, a welcome-home party was given In honor of Charles and Caro lyn Moore by the Rasheds. The salad course, Including American and Mediterranean dishes, was served at the home of Dr. and Mrs. M. Vohman of Montvlew Drive, Atlanta, where the decor Is basically Persian Interspersed with European motif. Dr. Vohman studied In Germany four years. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Lelke of Sandy Springs were host and hostess for the main course in cluding chicken and rice dish es prepared by Spanish, Indian and Italian connoisseurs. An aromatic dish of the East pro vided distinct recognition of Ja pan for the candle-lite, floral decorated table. The Lelkes lived in Iran several years and toured Europe, returning to the U.S. with an array of collec tor’s items. Their playroom is ornamented in the style of a medieval castle In Europe, en hancing the continental atmos phere of the evening. The finale of the evening was dessert and coffee served at the Moores’ residence on Still wood Cove In Forest Park. An oriental touch of the East - India, Ceylon, Japan, etc. - is. Vohman; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Lelke and daughter, Lolamaude, who returned from six months of study in Switzerland this month; Miss Marsha Hammond of the University of Georgia; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Belllno (formerly of New York); Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moore, Doug and Dana, and friend Jennie; and Mr. and Mrs. Al Rashed. 500 Methodist Women Gather MACON — One of Georgia’s largest attended meetings for church women Is scheduled Aug. 7-11 at Wesleyan College. More than 500 women will meet then for the annual School of Chris tian Mission of the South Geor gia Methodist Conference. The school will be held at Wesleyan College and will Include delegates representing 734 Methodist local churches in the southern half of Georgia. PALMER Believe It or not all fire trucks are not red and the Clayton County Fire Department has a new one to prove It. A spotless white triple com bination pumper was receiv ed July 26. It was ordered some four months ago and the reason for the delay is that each truck the Peter Plrsch Co. builds is custom made to meet each cu stomers’ specifications. This has been the company policy since it began back in 1857 at Kenosha, Wls. All the firemen were eager to drive the new apparatus. It will almost perform the familiar phrase “stop on-a-dime” and “turn on-a-quarter” with its air brakes and power steering. Before a fireman can drive he must pass a written and oral examination. It Is easy to understand why Athens Stadium Is 'Topped Out’ ATHENS -- Sanford Stadium, home of the University of Geor gia Bulldogs, was officially “topped out” when the last of the precast concrete seats in the double-deck addition was put into place earlier this week. This phase of the construction program for expanding and mo dernizing Sanford Stadium Is proceeding on schedule within the framework of previously an nounded plans, according to Heery & Heery, architects and engineers of Atlanta and Athens. The new seating capacity of the stadium will be approximately 58,000. The original portions of the stadium contained only 36,000 “ seats. Additional 4,800 seats, president’s box, restrooms, concession stands and press facilities were added piecemeal ove’' the years. Forest Park Girl In College Play MACON—The Wesleyan Col lege drama department of the Governor’s Honors Program has presented two productions “The Heiress,” by Ruth and’ Augustus Goetz, and “The Bald Boprano,” by Eugene lonesco. The cast for “The Heiress” Included Staples Hughes of College Park. The staff for “The Bald So prano,” which Is representa tive of the Theater of the Ab surd, Included Yvonne Mere dith of Forest Park. Automobiles of the future may look more like mobile homes guided along high-speed “thru ways” by electronic control eliminating the accident-pro ducing human factor.
