Jonesboro Methodist
Circle No. 12 Meets
Circle No. 2 of the Johesboro
Methodist Church met in the
home of Mrs. R. C. Cousins with
12 members and two visitors
present.
The meeting was called to order
ana the group joined in singing
O For A Thousand Tongues.”
Mrs. Cousins led the devotional
which was closed with sentence
prayers.
Mrs. Barbara Segner gave a
report on the WSCS Conference
which was held in Atlanta and
to which she was delegate from
the Jonesboro WSCS. The report
was beautifully given and all
present felt that they had at
tended the meeting themselves.
Mrs. J. E. Warner, chairman,
then opened the business meet
ing and the minutes of the prev
ious meeting •were read and ap
proved. A treasurer’s report was
given and also the yearly treas
urers’ report. The committe ap
pointed to purchase a cloth for
the communion table reported
that they had been investigating
the various possibilities and they
would be able to bring something
to us by the June meeting.
The greeting was closed with
prayer, after which delicious re
freshments were served by the
hostess.
AT LAST
At last the time has come to
organize a new Methodist Churcn
for Forest Park. The date is Sun
day, June 26th, 1955. Charter
members will be accepted at this
time.
The Rev. C. Hoke Sewell, Grif
fin District Superintendent, will
be preaching at the morning
services. Dinner "on the ground”
will be spread after the services.
The organizational meeting will
be held in the afternoon.
This is a day we have all been
eagerly looking forward to since
March. We have been holding all
of our services in the High School
Auditorium and will continue to
do so until a basement can be
built on our recently purchased
property.
The Charter Membership en
rollment will be held open for
thirty days in order to accept
those who want to join our
church as Charter members. We
hope to have a large attendance
on this day, so plan on coming
and joining with us In the wor
ship services, for dinner, singing,
and organizing our church.
For four months we have only
had a “title” for our church, so
at this time, we will officially
select a name. We want each one
to have a part in naming the
church, one that will hold true
through generations to come and
one that we will be proud of.
We need your prayers, your
presence, and cooperation to
make this, our ORGANIZATION
AL DAY, a glorious success.
Sunday School will be held at
the usual time at 9:45 a.m.,
church services at 11:00 am.,
dinner at noon, Organizational
meeting in the afternoon, and
Evening services at 8:00 p.m.
A full day is in store for us
all, so plan on coming and bring
your dinner and spend the entire
day with us.
EVERYONE WELCOME
