14 Foster Children, Cousin
Honor Mrs. Ola Foster, 79
At tfie 175-year-old home
place four miles west of Mc-
Donough. Mrs. Ola Foster, moth
er of 14 living children, is now
reluctantly living a life of ease
in comfortable surroundings
after about 75 years of corn and
cotton farming. It isn’t easy to
retire. Not even when you’re 79
and moving steadily toward the
80-year milestone.
The first reunion of the Foster
family ever held in Forest Park
Ivas a heartwarming event of
ast Sunday, with 13 of the 14
rhildren and a cousin she raised
irom age six after his daddy
tied, present for barbecue and
ompanionship.
The fact that all 14 children
.re still living is a remarkable
hing in. a pressure-filled age.
Ts a remarkable family, with
.woof the children substantial
iitizens of Forest Park as owners
if Foster Brothers Supermarket,
levelopers, and supporters and
friends of the children and par
|nts of the area.
The 14 children, two years
Kpart and in order of age, are:

Harold Calloway Jr., has re
turned from a trip with his
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. R.
M. Kelly, and little son, of Ma
con, to Miami, Fla., where they
Ala., and was one of the first to
arrive for the reunion. “My own
mother could not have been bet
ter to me than was Ma Foster,”
he said.
Mrs. Foster’s grandmother,
Mary Jackson, who lived on the
old homeplace, four miles west
of McDonough, was 80 when she
passed on to the Promised Land
longevity is a characteristic of
this fine family.
Mr. Foster, who left this earth
17 years ago .this month, became
ill on Daddy’s Day, Mrs. Foster
explained, and lived only e two
days.
A great pioneer, Mrs. Foster
chopped and picked cotton with
her husband, raised a fine fam
ily in the true Southern tradi
tion, and will never lack for a
moment the full love and affec
tion 14 children and a first
cousin are capable of bestowina
' on her.
Mrs. Foster believes that if
“my husband were living todav,
he’d turn over . . To her, as
to so many who have viewed the
1 passing scene for a long time, it
looks like the world is going
. downhill, and there are vital
: national statistics to prove it.
There’s no farming of any con
sequence being done now in the
' settlement, four miles wes^ of
McDonough; some cattle care
being raised. But it’s a great
place for peace and quiet and
communion with nature. If you
have to retire, .then that’s the
place to do it, Mrs. Foster be
lieves. We’re proud to have had
the opportunity for her to tell
us all about her fine children
and to relate some of the stirring
events of pioneer days in our sec
tion of Georgia. The growth of
out State and the type of citi
zens we have is traceable to the
type of person Mrs. Ola Foster Is.
i and the kind of man the father
, was.
were registered at the Raleigh
Hotel. They went by plane from

Lake City Club Plans
Community Building
The Lake City Community Im

for a community building and a

Mr. J. E. Edmonds, County

The community building will
