World Community Day
Service In Jonesboro
World Community Day Pro
gram will be under the leader
ship of the Methodist women in
the Jonesboro Methodist Church
on Friday. November 4, 1955 at
4 p.m.
All churches in the County
are cordially invited to attend
this service. A request for Par
cels of Peace to be brought to
this service for Pakinstan, India,
Okinawa and Korea. These Par
cels of Peace to consist of
clothing for boys' from sixteen
years up. Men’s clothing, espe
cially overcoats. Yardage of
denim and sheeting to be i.iade
into work clothes for husbands
and sons. Three yards of material
is needed to make a pair of pants
or trousers. Chaildren’s clothing,
all ages: clean and in good con
dition.

food to the hungry and needy,
and thus support the Church
World Service Program of "Share
Our Surplus”.
In French West Africa, food
is bady needed. Arab refugees
need food, clothing and medi
cine. In mountain villages of
Greece and Austria, need of
loans to buy seeds, farming tools,
household equipment, stoves and
bedding.
In Japan money is needed to
train teachers to help disabler’
and handicapped men and wom
en to earn a living.

GIRL SCOUTS MEET
For last Thursday’s meeting
the troup divided into three
groups Mrs. T. W. Haines assisted
by Mrs. Page had the first
group at her home; Mrs. Adair
and Mrs. Elrod took charge of
group 2 and Mrs. W. K. Smith
and Mrs. F. Lee worked with the
remainder. The girls were learn
ing weaving and hope to finish
their first baskets next week in
Forest Park.

Dr. and Mrs. Ernest Dunbar
and the children spent last week
end in and around Dahlonega.

museum, the mineral springs at
Porter Springs though now aban
doned were full of interest to
the party, who also visited Vogel
State Park. They took lots of pic
tures to help remind them of a
very pleasant sojourn.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Davis,
Frank Jr. and Johnny journeyed
to Spartanburg, S. C. to visit with
the boy's grandmothers. Grand
ma Davis returned with them to
spend a week at their home at
’ 122 Lakeshort Drive.
