May Davis Garden
Club Holds Meeting
The club met at the home of
Mrs. P. R. Jones, 137 Pine Valiev
Road, Forest Park, on Tuesday.
15. Mrs. Mary Peiupo gave the
devotional, with prayer by Mrs.
Frederick Lee. The program was
ably presented by Mrs. "Birdie”
•Jobson who showed various ever
green arrangements for Thanks
giving and Christmas table deco
rations. Centerpieces just grew
under her so capable hands and
many were the suggestions given
to the ladles which should prove
most helpful in the coming
festive season.
Mrs. P. R. Jones and her co
hostess served delicious ice
cream and cakes.
The Club President. Mrs. A. L.
Barnette, expressed on behalf of
the ladles, thanks to the hostess
es, and to all who had taken
part, and said the club is in
deed fortunate to have as a
member, Mrs. Birdie Jobson,
who is always so willing to give
of the knowledge which she has
acquired from her training as a
florist.

Pal Cottrell Io Go On
Tow in School Play
Pat Cottrell, a senior last year
at Forest Park High School and
now a freshman at Georgia
State College, appeared last
week in a musical melodrama
“Only an Orphan Gltl” with the
University Players. The players
performed at the school last
Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evenings.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.
T. Cottrell of 110 West Street in
Forest Park, Pat has been inter
ested in dramatics for many
years, and had a part in the
junior and senior play in high
school. After entering Georgia
State, she was invited to join
the Drama Club. Minoring in
art, Pat is working on her BS
Degree in Journalism.
The University Players have
had offers to appear at Fort Mc-
Pherson and Conley. At the in
vitation and expense of the
Army, they will tour the Army
camps in Florida the second
week in December. Director of
the University Players is Leon
ard Hart.
Miss Cottrell was voted as a
candidate for Homecoming
Queen by the Drama Club. She
Ls also being represented by a
fraternity at the school for “Miss
Rampway”, the school annual.
Al Capp, creator of Lil Abner,
will judge the beauties in the
1956 Miss Rampway Contest. In
this contest, pictures will be
taken of each contestant, and
sent to Al Capp to select the
winner, which will be announced
December Ist.
Jonesboro Woman's
Club Plans Redial
The Jonesboro Woman’s Club
will hold a Recital on Monday,
Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. in the Jones
boro Methodist Church. Mrs. R.
G. Turner, Chairman of Fine
Arts Department will present
this Recital by the Coca-Cola
Choral Club, directed by Mrs.
Don Babcock and Mrs. Paul
■Theron, manager, in an arrange
ment of Christmas and Winter
Music.
Following the Recital a recep
tion will be held in the Metho
dist Church Annex. Hostesses
will be Mrs. C. E. Lamb, Mrs. W.
D. Acker, Mrs J. D. Vaughn and
Miss Amah Lee Rutherford.

FORT KNOX, KY. — Pvt.
Claude E. Craig, 18, whose wife,
Helen, lives in Spring Lake, N.
C„ recently was graduated from
the tfack vehicle maintenance
course at the Armored School,
Fort Knox, Ky.
Pvt. Craig entered the Army
in December 1954 and completed
basic training at Fort Bragg,
N. C.
He is the son of Claude J.

home there. A Christmas project
was discussed and members de
cided to help a needy family

duced our guest speaker, Mrs.

tary of the Georgia Federation
of Women’s Clubs. Her topic was
“What General Federation has
done for us”. Discussion followed
the talk, and Mrs. Clark wel
comed all questions from the
group, and answered them clear
ly and fully.

bership Day”. The Forest Park
