VOTE FOR
JAMES K. CURRIE
FOR MAYOR SAT. DEC. 3,1955
He is an honest and able public servant, who firmly be
lieves that serving his community is far more important
than being served.
I
He is an active member of the First Baptist Church,
! the Kiwanis Club, Lions and the P. T. A. Mayor Currie is a
Mason, a member of the Forest Park Chapter No. 75, Roy
al Arch and the Eastern Star. He is vitally interested in the
youth of our city and has worked diligently for their wel
fare. He understands the needs and problems of the com
munity and is opposed to cursory promises. Believing that
we can only reach our objectives as we are able to pay for
them.
We have the finest Volunteer Fire Department in the
nation. If every member were a paid fireman and spent
his entire time at the fire station, our insurance rates
would not be lowered one cent, (check the Southeastern
Underwriters who set the rates.)
Every citizen of Forest Park should feel proud of the
favorable publicity given our city during the past 2 years.
The press, and civic organizations all over the state have
marveled at the rapid growth of our city, and the spirit of
community cooperation that prevails. The people of
Forest Park are, as a whole, above the average. Our well
kept homes and the attendance at the churches is some
‘ thing that brings pride and joy to every right thinking man
and woman.
Realizing a long time ago that Forest Park needs industry so as to more
equitably distribute the tax load, Mayor Currie has done something about mak
ing this a reality. He has stated on numerous occasions “That industry will not
locate in Forest Park unless we can offer it sewage.’* l We all know that the state
; ment is true. If industry would spend money in an area that only had water serv
■ ice to offer, Forest Park would have been blessed with new plants, abundant in
come and plenty of employment a long time ago. Sewer lines are being laid in the
city at this time. A health hazard is being removed. Forest Park can continue
j to grow and prosper. We also know that had it not been for his untiring efforts
; in pushing the sewer project home building would have been stopped by the State
Health Dept, in Forest Park. (If you doubt the above statement, check the State
I Health Dept.) The Mayor has correspondence to also prove that if sewage was
not constructed, loans would not be available for building in the city.
It would be difficult to overstate the importance we at
tach to the scope and quality of Mayor Currie's program.
We are tremendously encouraged by his manifestation of
faith in our growing community. Let's continue our pro
gressive growth under his able leadership.
Go to the polls Saturday, December 3, 1955, and vote
for Mayor Currie.

IATE THE TIME AND TALENT HE HAS GIVEN OUR CITY.)

Manpower Reduction
On At General Depot
Atlanta General Depot—Since
the end of the Korean emergen
cy and the subsequent reduction
in the strength of the armed
forces, the activities of the At
lanta General Depot have de
creased proportionately, it was
announced today by Brig.-Gen.
J. R. Ranck, commanding gen
eral of the Atlanta General De
pot.
As workload assignments at
the Depot are curtailed, a pro
gressive reduction in manpower
is essential.
Present plans provide for re
taining the basic skills and fa
cilities vital to military needs in
support of current requirements
and capable of rapid expansion
for any emergency.
The Office of the Quartermas
ter General and the Atlanta
General Depot staff will exercise
every means at its command to
assist those affected employees
in helping them find employ
ment in government or private
Industry.
