Here is a chance for all Moth
ers of Forest Park band students
to help the Music Club raise
money for the bands.
Each Mother is asked to bake
two cakes, sell them, and turn
the money over to the Music
Club to be used for the bands.
She may sell the cakes for two
dollars each to anyone who will
buy, to friends, to neighbors or
in local stores.
The Music Club will be asked
to do many more things this
year, and the need for money
will be as great as ever. We
have spent already some eight
hundred dollars on instruments,
which become the property of
the Forest Park High School as
soon as we turn them over to
the band.
This time the Music Club is
expecting help from you par
ents. If you do not wish to bake
and sell cakes, then your dona
tion of four dollars will be
greatly appreciated.
’ When your cakes are sold, you
may call PO 1-4894 and some
representative of the Music Club
will be glad to come to your
home and pick up your money.
Or you may give your money to
Mr. Andrew Leistl, treasurer of
the club.

In checking the minutes of September, I find
that one property owner was paid two thousand
dollars for easement for sewerage line through his
property. I am of the opinion that these easements
can be acquired for a great deal less. As a council
man, I will work to secure these easements as
cheaply as possible.
Just what the next council will be able to do
m the way of improvements will depend on the
amount of money available.
A great part of 1956 funds has already been
spent. I find that many thousands of dollars worth
of paving done this year is to be paid out of 1956
funds. This spending, above and beyond our means

Mrs. Richard Bowdon is hona
again after a most interesting
trip. She journeyed first to
Chicago where she visited with
Dr. and Mrs. Barthel who have
just returned from a world tour
at the close of three years in
Burma. Dr. Barthel is a research
psychisist; his wife is Mr. Bow
don’t youngest sister. Next, our
traveller went on to Tow Har
bours, Minn, to visit her father
Mr. W. J. Craven. On again, this
time to the Canadian border and
her brother, Dr. A. W. Craven—
and her first experience of
SNOW—at least for this season.
On the return journey, she stop
ped off at Milwaukee for more
visits with friends. And after
two weeks arrived home in time
to cook Thanksgiving dinner for
her husband. A wonderful trip.
Mrs. Lamar Beckwith was
hostess at a Brunch when 23
ladies met at her home on Tues
day 15 to honor Mrs. Ragsdale
and Mrs. Maner on their leaving
Forest Park. These ladies will be
missed by their many friends
here, and take with them all
good wishes for happiness and
good fortune in their new homes.
Mr. and Mts. Norman Colman,
Linda and Ned and Mr. Bill
Johnson drove to Metter, Ga. for
the holiday week-end where Mr.
and Mrs. J. Johnson, Bill’s par
ents have their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton Turley and
Larrie visited their brother and
sister-in-law for Thanksgiving.
They are Mr. and Mrs. C. E.
Sullivan and they live at
Smyria.
The traditional turkey dinner
with all the trimmings was the
order of the day at 118 Elizabeth
Drive, the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Martin Burks. Guests were Mr.
and Mrs. B. W. Yancey, Mr. and
Mrs. Jimmy Yancey and Kathy,
Mr. and Mrs. B. Cooper of
Orangebury, S. C„ Mrs. R. w.
Donald and Ralph of Atlanta.
Joining the party during the
afternoon were Mr. and Mrs.
Billy Nolan and their three chil
dren. The party proved its suc
cess by planning a Christmas
Party, a sure way of com
plementing host and hostess.
Florida fishing seems to be
very attractive to our Forest
Park men this holiday. We hear
that Mr. G. R. Anderson and Mr
Herman Floyd are “trying their
luck” down there.
