13, 20, and 30, 1955, were read and ap
proved,
The Permit Committee reported that
Jack Callaway had withdrawn his request
for rezoning of the Shelnutt property on
Ash Street for business,
The Parks Committee reported thx}t the
site for the tennis courts to be built by
the Civic Council had been selected, that
the site for Scout Troup 169 was under
consideration, and that the swimming
pool was almost completed.
The Mayor expressed his thanks on be

cilmen, L. R. Beckwith for his work on
the Council and the Finance Committee

Mayor Currie read wires which had
been sent by him to Senators George and
Russell and Congressman Flynt, and their
replies. The wires were sent to request
that they do all they can to retain the
Ordnances Automotive SchHool at the At
lanta Genera! Depot.
Mayor Currie read a letter from attor
neys for Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Going, 121
Finley Drive, notifying the City that they
intended to sue for damaee and trespass
for the sewer line having been laid across
their property without proper authority
or easement. The Clerk was instructed to
arrange a meeting with their attornevs and
the cit? attorney to discuss their allega
tions of damage
. Mayor Currie read a letter from R. 1
English, principal of the Forest Park High
School, requesting that one of the police
women used on the force be used as a co
ordinator for all the policewomen. This
was referred to the Police Committee
Motion was made by O. E. Haynes sec
onded, and carried unanimously, that the
Parks Committee be authorized to remove
the trees which are necessarv in the park
area in accordance with the recommen
dations of the Parks Engineer Curtis A.
Mees.
J. E. Grubbs was present requesting that
water be run to his house on Hendrix
Drive. This was turned over to the Water
Committee.
Motion was made by W, H Fleming
seconded, and carried unanimously, that
Land Lot 241 of* the 12th District be ex
cluded from the territorv which is to be
subject to a referendum for annexation to
the city limits
Motion was made by W. H. Fleming
seconded, and carried unanimously. that
water be run to the residence of Mrs. R
I. Williams on Main Street. Mrs. Williams
is to eive an easement for location of fire
hydrant.
A temporary line of water to Scout
Troup 255 hut was authorized.
Motion was made by W. H. Fleming,
seconded, and carried unanimously, that
the city stop use of free water by building
contractors, and that curb stops be in
stalled so that the City will have to turn
on water in new residences 5
Included in the ahove motion was that
the Ordinance Committee would draw up
an ordinance requiring that all curb stops
would be sealed and only authorized per
sons of the city would be allowed to turn
on water when a water meter is in
stalled. The Ordinance Committee is also
to draw up an ordinance calling for each
residence or each living unit to have its
own water meter and be charged one
minimum bfll for each unit.
. Motion was made by L. E. Helms, sec
onded, and carried, that H. E. Waldrop
' be added to the Board of Plumbing Exam
iners to bring the number on-the Board
to five.
