Mr. and Mrs. Bill Padgett of
159 West Drive made their first
visit to the famous Ida Carson
Callaway Gardens last Wednes
day (Aug. 11. The Padgetts are
fairly newcomers to Forest Park
and are finding the places of in
terest. They were very thrilled
with their visit to the Gardens,
fell in love with the beach and
numerous lakes, and thoroughly
enjoyed the day.
The Murray Lake Club House,
with its pretty view of the water
and its tree lined banks, was the
scene of a community gathering
July 30th. A ‘‘Stanley Party’’
came first, with profits going to
the Club House needs, then a
covered dish lunch was enjoyed
before members and their guests
had to leave that lovely spot with
its quiet peace and beauty.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Thomas are
hosts this week to visitors from
Gastonia, N. C. They are Mr.
Thomas' uncle, Mr. Jim Lindsey,
and Mr. Lindsey’s daughter, Mrs.
Harold Huffstetler. Their visit
will be an added pleasure for
Mrs. Thomas Sr. who is spend
ing some weeks here.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cross of
126 Warren Drive and children,
David. Pamela and Merrilyn, are !
spending a week at Daytona
Beach, having a wonderful time
in and out of the w^ter and get
ting a tan that looks like lasting
quite a time.
Mr. and Mrs. Forest Glover of
Plant City. Fla. are spending a
few days with their brother and
sister, the B. O. Mercers, of War
ren Drive. Their children, Wade
and Barbara, are with them.
Mrs. W. H. Craig of Locus
Grove has been a visitor at the
home of her daughter and son
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. w.
Austin, at Lakeshore Drive.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Barnette
have recently returned from
Carrebelle, Fla. They fished, sun
bathed, rested and fished some
more. That's what the E. w
Starrs found them doing when
they joined them for a few days.
And in one day deep sea fishing
those men bagged 90 lbs. of fish
It was a mixed bag, but exciting,
you bet.
From near and far they came
Back to their old school, those
graduates of ’42. back for a I
grand reunion at Central High I
School, Nashville, Tenn. Os the i
119 all but five were reached, and I
65 met on Saturday. 28th, to i
lunch together and exchange i
news of themselves, to talk of
the old school, the fun. the hopes
and fears of the future, as they
graduated that last day. Hornes
Robert at Lebanon, Tenn, was
the place chosen for lunch, the
school being about hall-way to
Nashville. Mrs. J c. Goldwire of
Forest Park was happy to be i
present among so many of her I
old school chums. The Goldwires
stayed over the week-end in
Nashville, and were able to re
new acquaintances with others
of their friends and relatives
there.
Mr. and Mrs. R. a. Stansel
Bobby and Stephany spent last
week-end at Nashville, Tennes
see. with the T R. Stansel fam
ily. They are not sure who did '
the most talking, the brothers,
the sisters-in-law. or the kids/
They are sure through that
everybody enjoyed the trip and
visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Babb have i
just returned from a vacation at
Daytona Beach where they had
a grand time. The change seems
to have been very good for Bill,
who has suffered from an acci
dent to his foot. He can walk
without the aid of a stick since
his return. Just keep that im
provement going. Bill.
Lairy Thurston his daddy is

eamp. Last week it was Camp
Glisson with the M Y F. and he
must have had fun because this!
week he has gone to Bert Adam I
Camp, with Troop 119. That
boy’s having himself a TIME
Mr. and Mrs. R. b. Sullivan of I
Woodland Drive are happy to
have visiting with them Mr. and
Mrs. Jules Borchers of Ft, Thom
as. Kentucky. The Borchers have
had a vacation in St. Petersburg.

Dorothy and Sara Haines,
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Travis
Haines, have returned from Car
rollton, ■where they spent a week
with Auntie and Uncle, the A
Normans They were able to visit
other relatives while there, in
cluding Grandpa. Cousin Jane
Norman has come home with
them for a few days.
Mr. and Mrs. R I. English and
the children are back from a
vacation at the home of Mrs.
English’s mother at Pine Lake.

while they relaxed at Grand
ma’s, so that she might take a

Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Nunn of
Phillips Drive have as their
guests two friends from Roches
ter, New York. They are Mrs.
Robert R. Fihler and Miss Mar
cia Willison. They have been
having a grand time visiting
places of interest in the state,

Mountain and the cotton mill at
Scott Dale.
Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Bray of
North Avenue and Mr. and Mrs.
Del. Thomas of Warner St. have
just returned from a week's visit
to Daytona Beach, Sea. sand and
the wonderful scenery combined
to give them a wonderful vaca
tion.
Visitors from Washington, D
C, are guests at the home of Me
and Mrs. J. W. Smith on North)
Avenue. Mrs. Smith's only sister,
Mrs. W. J. Hudgins, with her
husband, son and daughter are
spending two weeks here and are
going the rounds’ with the other
members of the family. Among
the highlights of their visit was I
a picnic at the Griffin Park last
Wednesday when about 20 of the
family gathered to enjoy a re
union.
It was a happy group spending
a week's vacation at Daytona
Beach recently. Mrs. B. Nolan,
Mike. Susan and Tom and Mike's
friend, Jimmy Robinson; Mrs J.
M. Barton and Bill and Mrs.
Charlotte Lopez were the par
ticipators, and there was fun
galore on that grand beach. Not
that the fun slopped at the
beach; it went right on out into
the water where the party en
joyed swimming and ‘dunking’
and hunting shells.
Little Miss Susan Nolan and
her cousin, Julie, have been vis
iting with Auntie Mrs. I. W.
Donald, at her home on West
over Dr., Atlanta, since Susan’s
return from Daytona. Wonder
what they talked about? Could it
have been Daytona Beach, by
any chance?
Miss Karen Beisch of 104 War
ner Drive is at Summer Camp a'
Chapman Springs. She Is really
enjoying life there, meeting old
friends and making new ones.

Cash was held Saturday, July
28th, at 112 Whiteoaks Drive, the
home of one of the hostesses,
Mrs. Grace Turner. Co-hostess
was Mrs. Dot Hambrick and Mrs.
Eunice Cheaves lent a very
willing hand in the “fixings”.
Mrs. Cash was indeed thrilled
with the lovely and useful gifts
which showered upon her.

have returned from two weeks'
vacation in Florida. They spent

Portsmouth, Va. were the week

Rev. Leon D. Neese of La-
Grange. Ga. was guest speaker
Thursday night at the regular
meeting of the Forest Park
States Rights Council. The Rev
erend spoke on the Bible and
segregation. Approximately 60
members were present and eight
new members joined.
Mrs. Mamie Smith, Reverend
and Mrs. Douglas Harmon and

Toccoa and Mr. Kai Cheong

and Mrs. George Miller last Fri

Miss Henderson is the daugh
ter of the late Mr. Henderson, of
Hampton. She attended Wesley
an College at Macon and at
present is attending Georgia
State College where she is
Sweetheart of the Sigma, Phi
Epsilon Fraternity.
Mr. Acker is the son of Mrs i
William Dorn Amur, Sr., and the I
late Mr. Acker, of Hampton and
Jonesboro, formerly of Atlanta. I
Georgia. He attended North
Georgia College in Dahlonega.
He will graduate from Georgia
State College in December with
a degree in Business Adminis
tration with a major in manage
ment. He is a member of the
Sigma Phi Eosilon social fra
ternity, the Delta Sigma Pi pro
fessional fraternity, and the So
ciety sos the Advancement of
Management.
The wedding will be an event
of September the eighth at
Berea Christian Church in
Hampton.

by Miss Sally Wishart, 110 Pine
view Drive, Forest Park, on Sat
urday night honoring Miss Dar
lene Wright of Atlanta.
Miss Wright enjoyed meeting
the many friends of the Wis
harts at this gathering. Dancinr
was enjoyed by everyone ant
delicious refreshments we r»
served consisting of sandwiches,
potato chips, cookies and Cokes!

SKATING PARTY
BY YOUNG PEOPLE
A skating Party was held last
week-end by the Methodist
Youth Fellowship members and
their friends at the Youth Cen
ter. The young people of the
Forest Park Methodist Church
gather for skating once a month
and enjoy three or four hours
of fellowship together.
Outside of several “spills” and
trips they really had a wonder
ful time. Iced Cokes are served
to the skaters at these parties.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Morris are
counselors for the M.Y.F. Ap
proximately forty members and
their friends attended. Another
skating party will be held the
last of this month.
An ice cream supper will be
served by these young people at
the church on College Street,
August 11th, from 5:00 p.m. un
til 8:00 p.m. The proceeds from
this supper will be given toward
the building fund for the new
church.
