First Baptist Adult Choir
Has Outing in Mountains
On Saturday, August 4th, at
7:00 a.m. 46 sleepy-eyed mem
bers of the First Baptist adult
choir, their families and friends
gathered at the church and left
for a very exciting trip ■ — with
Black Rock Mountain as our
destination! After stopping at
various points of interest along
the way, we reassembled at
Charlie Marchman’s Appliance
Store in Clayton, Georgia. Here
Jack Bailey took a very interest
ing snapshot of Gladys and Nita
with two typical mountaineers
(the kind you read about, but
never expect to see!)
From Clayton we motored over
to Camp Pinnacle to see some of
the girls from our church who
were in G. A. Camp and then on
to Black Rock Mountain. As we
viewed the beautiful scenery we
were so thankful for our wraps
because that good mountain air
was plenty breezy. The men
were so sweet to cook the food
while the women tried to keep
the children from falling off
the side of the mountain (lucky)
we brought back all we took!)
After a delicious meal of char
coal-broiled hamburgers with all
of the trimmings we decided to
hike up to Tennessee Rock which
is only a mile straight up the
mountain and such puffing and
blowing you've never seen. We
reached the Rock, sat down to
rest a while, viewed the beauti
ful scenery and sang for a spell
when ail of a sudden Celeste
started dancing a jig. (She was
sitting on a hornets nest and
one of them liked her pretty
well i. We didn’t worry about her
but when the children started
screaming fr o m stings we
thought it best to leave it with
.them so we started back down

the trail. This was much easier
than going up, but it was all
loads of fun.
We then chatted and rested a
while and after several games
of horse-shoe we decided we had
better head for home. Everyone
reported a safe and happy jour
ney, a most enjoyable day, and
before we left were already
planning another such outing
very soon.
P.S. I don’t believe any of us
had to be rocked to sleep, either!
