The luncheon given by Mrs.
Ann Pinnell at her home, Oak
Hill Farm, Conley, on Tuesday,
February 3, was attended by
Mrs. M. R. Sutton, Mrs. Herman
Price, Mrs. W. O. Parker, Mrs.
Lloyd Scott. Mrs. Ralph Summer
and Mrs. Robert Jernigan.
Mrs. Mamie Smith of Ash
Street and Mr. and Mrs. G. W.
Harman of Hapeville took a trip
to Toccoa, Ga., to visit Rev.
Douglas and Mrs. Harman and
family. Rev. Harman and his ■
wife are the son and daughter '
respectively of Mrs. Smith and ;
the G. W. Harmans, and the oc
casion was to attend the first
service in the new church, which
is Rev. Harman’s pastorate.
Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Kilpatrick
of Forest Avenue are happy to
have their son, G. Howell, here
for a visit. A business trip
brought him from his home in I
Dallas, Texas, and he was able to (
spend some days with his par
ents.
Mrs. M. R. Sutton of South

ly in Bothan, Ala., with her sis- i
ter and brother-in-law, the A. L. (
Skinners.

show started Leslie’s special day
February 11 when he got to be
three. After the excitement
there and lunch with Mother
(Mrs. Robert Kirk) and brother
Robert, most every one of his
small playmates came to have
cake and ice cream with him
and wish him a happy birthday.
Games, with bits of Skipper
Ray’s program told as they went
along, contests and all the fun
of having a birthday, made a
wonderful day for Leslie and
his friends.
PARTY FOR MIKE
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kirk’s
young son Mike celebrated his
fifth birthday Feb. 7. Friends
helping him enjoy the lovely
chocolate cake with its red and
while frosting, ice cream, candy,

FHA NEWS
The Jonesboro FHA was called
to order by the president, Mel
anie Maloney, Thursday, Jan. 29.
After the opening ritual, the
secretary read the minutes and
roll call. After the treasurer’s re
port, the club approved the proj
ect of selling Stanley Products.
Elaine Huey presented the de
votional; then Linda Byron,
Kathy O’Conner and Patsy Hal
bert presented a skit entitled:
“Why Become a Member of
FHA.” Carole Skelton, Gloria
Swygert, Ellen Carole Powell,
Joy Davis, Linda Byron, Savonia
Wallece, Joyce Etheridge and
Melanie Maloney explained the
FHA emblem.
The meeting was then ad
journed.

ruary 5, Mrs. Jeanne Wood en
tertained a host of her daugh
ter Deborah’s friends in honor of
Deborah’s eighth birthday, at
her home on Scarlett Drive.

Games were enjoyed with sev
eral winning prizes. Deborah
was quite thrilled and excited
while opening the many nice
gifts she received. The beautiful
cake was heart shaped and dec
orated with red roses and eight
red candles.
After the guests sang “Happy
Birthday” to Deborah, ice cream
and cake were served. Mrs. Merle
Scarbrough, Deborah’s grand
mother, assisted Mrs. Wood in
making this a very happy occa
sion for Deborah and all the lit
tle guests.

Mr. Herbert Galbreath at
tended Homecoming week-end
at Georgia Teacher’s College at
Statesboro, Ga., and also visited
his parents at Ailey, Ga., during
the week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Evans Hall, Jr.,
entertained at an open house
Sunday, February 15, at their
home on Lake Jodeco. Mrs. Hall
was assisted in entertaining by
Mrs. John Lander and Mrs. J. M.
Castleberry. About sixty Atlanta
friends called during the after
noon. On Sunday, January 22,
Mr. and Mrs. Hall will entertain
at a small Bon Voyage party in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. Athos
Menaboni, who will leave in
March for a three weeks visit to
Japan.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Springer
and daughter, Angela, spent last
week in Mobile, Ala., visiting
Kenny’s brother, J. L. (Buddy)
Springer, and family.
Mrs. H. E. Camp was the guest
of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Murphy in
Fayetteville Wednesday. The
Camps had as their spend-the
day guest Saturday, Mr. C. R.
Camp of Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jones en
tertained at a dinner party Sat
urday evening in honor of Miss
Banford Taylor of St. Simons
Island and Mr. Albert Coleman
who will be married April 11. Mr.
Coleman is with the health de
partment of Clayton County and
Fayette County. Eleven guests
were invited to meet the couple.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley E. Boak
and children of Montgomery,
Ala., spent the week-end with
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Garner and
Mrs. B. F. Boak. Patricia will
remain with her grandmothers
for a week.
Mrs. Joe Kirkland has re
turned home from Glen Allen,
Miss., where she attended the
funeral of little Mary Jeanette
White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
W. L. White, Jr., who was killed
in an automobile accident.
On Tuesday, February 10, Mrs.
A. A. Camp, Jr., and Mrs. C. R.
Chesney were hostesses at a
luncheon given at the Holliday
Inn. The guests, who gathered
at Mrs. Chesney’s home after
lunch were Mrs. R. K. Thrower,
Mrs. J. B. Waldrop, Mrs. C. F.
Duffee, Mrs. E. L. Adamson, Sr.,
Mrs. O. J. Coogler and Mrs. R. G.
Turner.

Fort Walton Beach. Fla., were
guests last week of Mrs. Joe
Callaway, Miss Mattie Callaway
