Returning here to take up
residence again are the G. C.
Pylants. Their address is Alice
Street, and old friends are so
happy to have them again in
the community, after their stay
in Mobile, Ala.
Also returned to Forest Park,
are the Earl Devineys. They
have been living in Florida, and
now are established at 189 South
Avenue.
Mrs. Jack Callaway was host
ess at a luncheon at her home
on Thursday last. Guests were
Mrs. A B Cox. Mrs. E. A. Foster,
Mrs. Ernest Stroud, Mrs. Frank
Noon, Mrs. W. Purvis and Mrs.
Billy Gaultney.
Last, week-end saw the A. B.
Cox family off to Tallahassee,
Fla., to visit Mrs. Cox's parents,
the E. L. Cooks.
The lady spending the week
last week at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. J. W Childs on Ash Street,
is Mrs. Childs’ mother, Mrs.
Woodward, of Jenkensburg, Ga.
Mrs. Kay Jaynes, director of
the Blue Note Dance Studio, has
been invited to be one of the
judges for the “Miss Atlanta,
Jr.,” contest at the Dinkler-Plaza
Hotel on March 26. Two other
judges will be Miss Betsy Tant,
“Miss Atlanta 1957”, and Officer
Don of WSB-TV.
Mr. C. W. Piper of South Ave
nue is seriously ill at St. Joseph’s
Hospital, after collapsing at his
home.
Mrs. Manse Waldrop is recov
ering from the result of an auto
accident, has lost her stitches,
and hopes to recover her
“nerves” soon.
The Harmonettes, Forest
Park’s own group of singers,
have been as busy as usual. Re
cently they have sung at the
Sweetheart Banquet at Beecher
Hill Baptist Church, at the Fel
lowship Club Aiden Street
Church, and at the Laurence
ville Association Brotherhood at
Tucker, Ga.

Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Beckwith.
Mrs. Lukie Evans of Morrow
has had a bad time, and is still
ill at the home of Miss Annabelle
Harper.
Mr. Louis Atherton of Finley
Drive is seriously ill at Georgia
Baptist Hospital. Your prayers
for his recovery will be appreci
ated.
Deep sympathy goes at this
time to Mrs. James D. Gaddis of
West Drive on the death of her
husband.
Mrs. Fred Durden of South
Avenue had an old friend to
spend the week with her. She is
Mrs. Guy Cooper of Bennetsville,
S C.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brown of
Rockspring Street were happy to
entertain the J. R. Collins, Jr., of
Manchester, Tenn. The two
ladies are sisters. The Collins
were on their way to Key Stone
Heights, Fla., where they will
spend a week.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chaney of
Bridge Avenue spent last week
end with Mr. and Mrs. S. Dun
can at Snellville, Ga. They took
Mrs. E. D. Chaney (mother) with
them, making it the first leg of
her journey to her home in Clin
ton, S. C., after several weeks
here.
Mr. and Mrs. Harper Evans at
tended the Jayc.ee Conference at
Savannah over the week-end,
and found time to visit with old
friends who have just been
transferred there from New
York.

A luncheon for the Eastern
Air Line Pilots Wives Club of At
lanta was held February 19 at
the Cherokee Country Club.
Among the eighty-five members
present was a group of local
ladies, including Mesdames L. F.
McDonald, C. C. Evans, Frank
Hancock, R. J. Hudson, A. B.
Atkisson, A. L. Harris, L. W. Rob
erts, L. F. Grubbs, H. D. Davis, D.
Pursell and J. Whitted. The
ladies spent a very enjoyable day
during which officers for the
year were elected.
The March meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. O. B.
Atkisson in Forest Park.

Sponsors Supper
The Ladies’ Auxiliary Post 4392
VFW is sponsoring a supper for
the men of the Post Thursday
(tomorrow) night. The ladies
will carry covered dishes, as ar
ranged at their regular monthly
meeting February 17, and a good
time is anticipated.
There will be plenty of good
food, and a good attendance is
desired.

5-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Smith, and Sylvia Starr, 5-
year-old daughter of the Harold
Starrs.

Brown of Hampton were recent
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie
Brown.
Mrs. Roy Goss has returned
home after a visit of five weeks
in Florida. While there she was
the guest of Mrs. F. L. Stephen
son, Clearwater; Mr. and Mrs.
Maynard Jennings, St. Peters
burg; Mrs. D. A. Lee, Indian
Rock Beach; and she also visited
the city of Tampa during her
stay in the sunshine State.
Mr. Herbert Galbreath attend
ed the funeral of his uncle, Mr.
Ezra McGill, in Vidalia on Tues
day, after a visit with his par
ents in Ailey, Ga. He returned
home Wednesday night.
Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Norrell and
son, Gerald, of Fairmont, Ga.,
were week-end guests of Mr. and
Mrs. W. G. Norrell.
Forest Park Jaycettes
Hear Convention Report
The Forest Park Jaycettes met
Monday, February 23, at the
home of Mrs. Horace Jenkins at
139 S. Parkwood in Forest Park.
The meeting was called to order
by the president, Mrs. Miriam
Worsham. An interesting report
was given on the State Conven
tion held in Savannah the week
end of February 20-22 which
several members attended.
A report was given by Mrs.
Wendell Campbell on the par
ticipation of the Jaycettes in the
local Heart Fund Drive Sunday,
February 22.
Plans were completed for aid
ing the Jaycees in their observ
ance of Jaycee Week February
22-28. An important function of
the Jaycettes was planning, pre
paring, and serving the meal for
the Jaycees’ annual Bosses’
Night. Plans were also discussed
for aiding Jaycees in their par
ticipation in the dedication of
the new Post Office to be held in

(Leila) Clark are extending their
get well wishes for an early re
covery, Mrs. Clark is ill in Geor
gia Baptist Hospital.
S/Sgt. and Mrs. Joel F. Reeves
are the proud parents of a son,
Jody Frank, arriving on January
20th. Mrs. Reeves is the former
Miss Margaret Skelton of El
berton. S/Sgt. Reeves has re
turned to Tachikawa, Japan,
where he will be stationed for
three years. Joel is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. G. B. Reeves.
Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Sams of
Stockbridge announce the ar
rival of a daughter, Angela
Renee, on February 12th at Grif
fin Spalding Hospital. They
are former residents here. Mrs.
Sams is the sister of Mrs. Wilbur
Self.
Mrs. J. L. Murphy visited Mrs.
Captain and Mrs. M. G. Gecik
of Huntsville, Ala., were week
end visitors of their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. E. L. Adamson, Sr.
Miss Pamella Thames of Red
Oak spent several days last week
with her ■grandmother, Mrs.
Clara Z. Sage.
Mrs. Loy Dickson’s mother,
Mrs. Birdie Daniel, returned
home Saturday after a three
months’ visit in Miami, Fla.,
with her daughter, Mrs. Sha
Marsengill, and son, Mr. Tom
Daniel.
Mrs. Tommie Brooks has re
turned home from St. Joseph’s
Hospital and is convalescing
nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Gay, new
comers to Jonesboro, are now re
siding at 155 Spring Street. The
Gays have a new seven pound
girl, Kathy Lynn, born February
Bth in Georgia Baptist Hospital.

Birthday Dinner for
N. Clayton PTA
North Clayton PTA held its
annual birthday dinner on Fri
day, February 20. Twelve tables,
each representing a month of
the year, were occupied with
PTA members according to their
month of birth.
The tables were so beautifully
decorated that the judges had
quite a problem. However, Sep
tember, with its little red school
house, complete with fenced-in
playground, swings, slides and
little figures playing, won for
Mrs. O. K. Reltor first prize.
April, with its cute umbrella,
won second place for Mrs. Biffle,
and third place was awarded
Mrs. Jerry Taylor, for her Feb
ruary table, which carried outJ
the Valentine motif.
A “Parcel Post Auction” caused
a lot of excitement, after which ;
the gathering was entertained
by Vaught and Langley, those
well-known entertainers who
give so much pleasure wherever
they appear. The financial part
of the evening was very pleasing,.
and the PTA funds considerably;
aided.
Stork Shower for
Mrs. Tomasello
Mrs. Jerry Tomasello was
given a surprise stork shower on
Monday, February 23, by her
three sisters, Mrs. Doris Haynie,
Mrs. Jane Stone and Mrs. Louise {
Brown.
To be sure the “surprise” was
complete, they carried the show
er to her at her home, 1324 Kite
Drive. Those taking part were
Mrs. Ann Gaultney, Mrs. Geral
dine Stone, Mrs. Richard Haynie,
Mrs. Janice Barronton, Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Alexander
of Davis Road have returned
from South Carolina, where Mrs.
Alexander visited their son,
Alan, and Betty, at Shaw Air
Force Base, while her husband
worked.
Os course you have heard the
O. L. Alexanders brag on their
new grandson. Wilson and Caro
lyn have a brand new son, Hoyt
Leland, born at Austin, Tex. And
it’s a sure bet that the Watsons
(Carolyn’s parents) are just as
happy at this first grandson’s
arrival.
Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Acree spent
the day last Sunday with the
Jack Morris family at Chamblee,
Ga. Mr. Morris and Mrs. Acree
are brother and sister.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McElroy are
taking a week’s vacation in Flor
ida. Mrs. McElroy is recovering
from an illness, and hopes to re
gain her strength rapidly down
in sunny Florida.
We are sorry to learn of the
serious attack that has hos
pitalized the father of Bill
White, of Davis Road. Mr. W. J.

The Jonesboro Woman’s Club
met Monday evening, February
23rd, in the home of Mrs. J. B.
Reeves.
Hostesses: Mrs. J. B. Reeves,
Mrs. Philo McKennon, Mrs. T. D.
Rivers, Mrs. Betty Kilpatrick,
Mrs. Harvey Orr, Mrs. Louie
Peacock.
Mrs. V. H. Shellnut had charge
of the program, which was the
fiftieth anniversary of Talullah
Falls School.
This school is the Heart and
Pride of the General Federation
of Women’s Clubs; the only
school sponsored by women’s
clubs.

Mrs. Billie Rainwater, East
Bell, accompanied the high
school girls’ basketball team to
Macon for the tournament. She
was able to relax her duties as
chaperone long enough to visit
relatives there.
Larry Bradley is enjoying a
leave from the service, with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Bradley.
Sincere sympathy is extended
to the family of Mr. Paul Grey of
Tanner Road, College Park, who
died as the result of an auto ac
cident on Sunday, February 22.
Mr. Grey, 18 years old, was for
merly a student at North Clay
ton High.
The visitors at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. White on
Davis Road last Sunday were the
Jim Mitchels, former residents
and neighbors now living in De
catur.
