i)pen House Visitors
“Magnificent” was the expres
-Bion heard most often at Open
House of the beautiful new Joy
dand Nursery and Kindergarten
Saturday at the corner of Geor-“
%}u and West, Forest Park. |
_ Visitors toured the new build
&, saw the attractive kinder-]
g&en room, nursery rooms, din
ing room and kitchen—and the
gk and blue rest rooms—and
decided that Polly and Mark
Carver had outdone themselves
in offering the service and facili- f
ties, and safety, for area young
sters. |
Enclosed by chain-link fence, |
the outdoor playground is of
adequate size. The whole facil-|
ity covers a city acre. ;‘
The half basement dnwnstairs,‘
focal point of the year-round air |
conditioning equipment, is also |
a play spot during rainy days. |
FELLOW CITIZENS:
/ » - This past Friday, February 26, I qualified to run as a candidate
f ’ i for the office of County Ordinary in the County Democratic Primary to
& i ! be held Saturday, April 23.
' A t This is for a full four year term beginning next January to the
"</ b ! position T now hold which the citizens of Clayton County honored me
L | by electing me to on February 13.
" ; ] During this primary campaign I hope to see each of you who cast
% your vote in my behalf and thank you for your support. Also, I look for
ward to meeting as many citizens as possible who cast their vote for one
of the several other candidates who offered in the special ‘eiection.
At that time I will try to say to you why I feel Joe Lane will make the best Ordinary
for you and ask for your support.
In this campaign, however, I will be at a distinct disadvantage. This is because I
promised, if elected, to serve you FULL TIME and plan to do just that, limiting my cam
paigning to my lunch hour and to evenings.
This won’t give me hardly as much time as I would like to have, or need, or as
much time as I had in the special election campaign when I took leave of absence from |
my regular job.
When you read this I will have been in office two weeks and each day has been a J
really interesting experience. There is a lot more to this job than lat first imagined |
and I am trying to learn the many duties as fast as possible. : |
At a later date I shall have some information about this job which I feel you will ‘
find interesting. |
In the meantime, if you do not see me out campaigning, please remember that I !
am on the job to which Clayton County citizens elected me. Your support is very much |
needed, though I may not be able to tell you so personally, and deeply appreciated. ‘
Respectfully yours ‘
|

For Joneshoro
Every telephone customer in
the Jonesboro Exchange will re
ceive a postcard from the Tele
phone Company in the next few
.| days, asking for comments and
_lcriticisms of his telephone serv
.’ice, according to C. E. Martin,
, | manager for Southern Bell Tele
| phone Company here.
| “We’re not necessarily seeking
| compliments,” Mr. Martin point
-led out. “If any of our customers
have criticisms, we would like
lto know them. Comments like
| these help us give customers the
kind of service they want.”
l Mr. Martin emphasized the
.iimportance of filling out the

I§is to give the Telephone Com
