home by Mr. Darby on Saturday.
He is connected with the Martin
Burks Motor Company and will
move his family here when the
school term is completed.
The "Hobo" party at the home
of Mrs. Joe McKneely, 6831 South
Expressway, was a very special j
occasion, marking the comple-!
tion of a basic ceramic course.
Members of the class attending

Barrow. Mrs. W. P. Brannan,

Hutcheson. Mrs C. M. Vanslyke.

and thoroughly enjoyed by

modeled their dresses for the
Vogue Pattern contest. There
were nine entries Mrs. Hutch-1
eson modeled a blue silk print'
and came in as third place
| winner.
At the end of the installation
’ services. Mrs. Denton was pre- [
; sented the past president's pin.
The installing officer was Mrs.
S. M. Hays of Covington, Ga..

this was a timely subject and we ,
were given ideas and informa-|
tion regarding preparations for
spring planting and beautifica
tion.
Mrs. Singleton ran color slides
of the 18 4-H Girls modeling
their fashions in the 1959 State
Dress Revue held in Atlanta.

At noon, time was taken out
for a delicious covered dish
luncheon and social hour. Mrs.
J. R. Walker and Mrs. E. L.
; Travis acted as hostesses.
In the afternoon the club
members w’orked on basket
weaving under the direction and
■ supervision of Mrs. Black. Re-
I suits were very gratifying and
much interest was displayed by
i those participating.
Other interesting activities are
I coming up in the future months
and we would like anyone inter
ested to be with us at these
meetings.
All members are urged to at
tend the Dress Revue on April
15th at Jonesboro Community
House.

Hoyt Gordon Farr Jr., following their wedding ceremony Friday
night at the First Baptist Church of Forest Park. Rev. Hoyt Farr,
father of the groom, officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. E. L. Hankins of Forest Park. A student at Mercer
University, Mr. Farr will graduate in June.

Mrs. D. P. Dent is back home
after a wonderful two-week visit
to her daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Conway Mizelle, in
Jacksonville, Fla. She had nu
merous parties arranged for her,
met friends of her hosts and vis
ited places of interest.
And just everybody is happy
to know that Mrs. Roy Hancock
(Vivia, of Vivia’s Beauty Salon)
is home from the hospital and
is coming along nicely after ma
jor surgery.
North Clayton High was repre
sented at the National Beta Club
banquet last week, by Linda
Rainwater and Mary Lynn Parks.
The girls had a wonderful time.
Bobby Rainwater is here for
spring holidays. He is at Emory
University.
Mrs. Dent tells us her daugh
ter and son-in-law, the Conway
Mizelles, will be returning to the
community to live, later on.

Miss Jerri Thomas flew last
week-end to Chattanooga, to
spend a few days with friends

The home of Mr. and Mrs. S.
Yancey on Persley Drive has
been a very cheery place lately.
Their daughter, Mrs. Lee Dunn,
and the two children were visit
ing for a few days, then came
an old friend from Decatur, Mrs.

Wedding
The marriage between Lynette
Hankins, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. E. L. Hankins of Robin
Lane, Forest Park, and Hoyt
Gordon Farr, Jr., was solemnized
Friday, March 18, at the First
Baptist Church, Forest Park, in
an impressive candlelight serv
ice.
The bride, wearing white satin
with fingertip veil and carrying
a white orchid on a white Bible,
was given away by her father.
Allen Thanes was best man.
Music was rendered by Mrs.
Ralph Bowlden. Soloist was
Donald Chapman and Ann Tid
well. Rev. Hoyt Farr, father of
the groom, officiated.
The reception was held at the
bride’s home and the happy cou
ple will reside in Macon.

other mutual friends, and gen

Mrs. J. M. Nunn, Sr., is spend
ing a few days at Macon, Ga., to
welcome home from the hospital,
their new grandson. And of
course lend a helping hand to
Pat and Herman.
Miss June Smith, daughter of
the J. B. Smiths, took a week’s
vacation recently, and flew to
Roswell, Mexico, to visit her
brother. Chandler, and his wife.
Peggy. Chandler is stationed
there (U.S. Air Force) and Peggy
is working with the telephone
company. A week of sightseeing
was arranged for Miss Smith,
and most of the places of inter
est within 100 miles of Roswell
were visited.
John Currie, son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. M. Currie, Sr., is home
for spring holidays, from F.S.U.
where he made the Dean’s list
in 1959. John is majoring in
phychology.
Another of our young people
home for spring holidays is Miss
Brenda Summer. She is in her
freshman year at Reinhart and
made the Dean’s list last term.
Mrs. Caro Haynie is at Geor
gia Baptist Hospital, where she
has had an emergency appen
dectomy. At press time she was
reported making fine progress.
Sincere sympathy goes at this
time to Johnny Brooks and fam
ily on the death of his mother,
at Jenkensburg, Ga.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ackles are
enjoying their new home on
Pine Ridge Road, and old neigh
bors of Spring Valley Drive are
happy that they haven’t moved
too far away.
Dinner guest at the home of
the Augus Steeles last Wednes
day was Angus’ brother, Earle
Steel, who is here on a week’s
leave from Houston, Texas,
where he is stationed.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Smith were
hosts at a dinner at their home
on North Avenue, given in honor
of Mrs. J. E. Smith who was
celebrating her birthday. Some
17 members of the family en
joyed a wonderful meal and the
honoree received numerous gifts.
The Hoyt Trammell family
flew to New Orleans last Thurs
day to spend a long week-end
with friends, Mr. and Mrs. W.
A. Womack.
Mrs. M. A. Stone surprised her
husband with a luncheon on his
birthday March 14. Guests in
cluded Mr. and Mrs. William
Haynie and Mr. Richard Haynie.
While Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Turner and the children of Ash
Street were visiting Frank’s par
ents in Birmingham last week
end, Mr. Turner, Sr., was taken
ill with a heart attack. An im
nmvement in bis condition al
lowed the visitors to return
Home but they were recalled on
Monday.

a lovely little girl. Janet Yvonne
Ivey was born Feb. 29 at Craw
ford W. Long Hospital and
weighed 7 lbs. 6V2 ozs. She is
the Ivey’s first child. Mrs. Ivey
is the former Miss Gwen Wright
of Cherry Street, College Park.
Janet is the first grandchild for
the J. C. Wrights.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Smith
proudly announce the safe ar
rival of a brother for Cindy.
Jeffrey Lewis was born March 13
at Macon, Ga. Mrs. Smith is the
former Pat Nunn and both are
Forest Park residents, being in
Macon for Herman’s studies.
