The Baccalaureate Service for
Jonesboro High School was held
on Sunday. evening at eight
o'clock at the First Baptist
Church. Mr. William C. Wells
directed the singing with Miss
Norma McDonald at the organ.
Rev. Philo McKinnon read the
scripture. Rev. Boyd Wynn led
in prayer and the speaker was
Rev. W. W. Long. There were
one hundred and twenty grad
uates. Following the service a
reception was held in honor of
the graduates, in the social hall.
Mrs. O. J. Coogler Sr. of At
lanta and Mrs. J. B. Waldrop
were dinner guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Lon Carnes Sr. at their
home on College Street on
Wednesday evening, &
Mrs. Eva McKinnon, Mrs. Eva

guests of Rev. and Mrs. Philo
McKinnon and family over the

a LOSS of 123 LIVES. Included were 43 HONOR Georgia
High School boys and girls, in Atlanta for a convention.
ZACK CRAVEY immediately FATHERED Georgia's pres
ent Safety Fire Law. But for this LAW under which
ZACK CRAVEY brought OLD BUILDINGS up to basic
FIRE SAFETY requirements this TRAGEDY would haye
been REPEATED when the many-storied FPonce de Leon
apartment in Atlanta was swept by fire recently. Yet,
not a LIFE was LOST!

Ala., a student at Georgia Tech,
visited Mr. Bruce Brogdon last
week-end. While here he was
entertained at a skiing party at
the Flying B. Ranch on Satur
day. About twenty guests were
invited.
The Chit Chat Club of Edge
moor West enjoyed a family day
picnic at Lake Spivey on Thurs
day.
Mrs. Charles W. Poole and
children spent the week-end at
Warner Robins, Macon, Ga., as
the guests of Mrs. A. I. Willis.

Church, Miss Evelyn Arlene Goe,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Goe, 22 MecAllister Street, be
came the bride of Floyd M.
Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton is a
Fireman on the U.S.S. Constella
tion, U. S. Navy, and is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hamilton
Sr. of Ellenwood, Ga.
Following the ceremony a
buffet luncheon was held at the
home of the bride. A three tier
wedding cake with miniature
bride and groom adorned the
table.
The young couple left on a
honeymoon trip to Georgia.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Kelly of
Park Drive have returned from
a trip which put 2,101 miles on
their car. They visited Indiana,
Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Ten
nessee and Virginia, taking two
weeks with stops off to visit
friends and relatives. It was a
wonderful trip.

Puerta Rico is here visiting both
sets of grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. O. F.. Williamson of Forest
