Clayton County Cal Sez:
DEAR MISTER EDITOR: Ain’t it a fact that the County Com-
missioners has provided a fine recreational area
I on Jodeco Road for the colored citizens of Jones-
I ooro. No complaints, understand. What we’s get
iting at is that, it’s our understanding, that the
’ Commissioners sent a lot of equipment to the
^athletic field at Rosetown, Forest Park, and
j couldn’t get the necessary cooperation from For
; est Park Mayor and Council to do the necessary
j work on the high school fields. How long is For
’est Park gonna wait before doing something
that shoulda been done a dozen years ago?
Y’rs truly

The truck that’s as good as your word
When you promise something will be there, a Chevrolet truck will
help you keep your word almost to the point of monotony.
It will do its job over and over and over again, with seldom any
trouble, at very low cost. What more can you ask from a truck?
Because of their reliability, people have put more Chevrolet trucks
to work every year since 1937. That’s a strong vote of confidence.
If good service is vital th your business, make your truck a Chev
rolet and make your word more dependable than mJ||L>—
ever. Call your neighborhood Chevrolet dealer soon. ““Tjjjjp"

IT WAS A BIG, BIG DAY FOR GULF OIL COMPANY. Last Fri
day and Saturday were big days for Gulf in Forest Park as they
celebrated the Gala Premiere of their all-new Minute Shopper
Service Station. The opening of the experimental station, only
the fourth of its kind in the country, was one of the biggest in
the history of Gulf in the Atlanta Area. Gulf is a welcome addi
tion to the ever expanding business community in Forest Park.

Army Day, Flag Day
Big Depot Occasion
It was a great day Thursday at Atlanta General Depot
with visiting notables on hand for the 187th anniversary
of the creation of the U. S. Anny by Act of the Continental
Congress. And also designated as Flag Day by the President
of the United States.
Brig. Gen. Kyser invited local
community leaders and news
media representatives to visit
the Depot, and to take a Cook’s
tour guided by project officers,
who included Mr. Jones and
Kirk: Gen. Kyser, Capt. Gearey,
Maj. Reynolds, Lt. Col. Hallowes,
Maj. Warburton, Lt. Col. Dagg,
Col. Brown, Lt. Col. Tidwell and
CWO Smath. For the Depot
tours, the officers in charge
were Col. Baldwin, Col. Brown
and Col. Perry.
Among those present were
Dean J. Alton Hosch, Dean, U. of
Georgia Law School, and Ci
vilian Aide to Secretary of
Army; Billie Barnes, McGraw-
Hill Publishing Co.; Burton Bell,
South Atlantic Division, Corps
of Engineers; P. K. Dixon, Chair

Army Day and Flag Day was
climaxed by a luncheon hosted
by Gen. Kyser, the perfect host.
And then, following Gen. Kyser's
speech of welcome and a fine
meal, those fortunate ones who
didn’t have to go back to work
enjoyed golf on the AGD’s fine
golf course. Charley Yates, now
a railroad executive but for
merly British Amateur Cham
pion, was the best golfer around.
The second best was County
Commissioner Terrell Starr. The
worst was Jimmy Jones, the
Depot’s crack PIO.
It was a great honor to be in-,
vited with so many dignitaries
for this highly significant occa
sion in American history—Army
Day—and also Flag Day. It is
becoming more and more impor
tant for Americans to display
the American Flag wherever
they can, in fronts of businesses,
schools, recreation spots, offices,
etc. This is a priceless heritage.
It doesn’t hurt down south to
also display the Confederate
flag as well.
