Mr. and Mrs. George Brown of
165 South Avenue are spending
two weeks with her parents in
Auburndale, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrus Yancey
spent a vacation last week with
their daughter and soi)-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Lowe, in
Cincinnati, Ohio. The Indian
apolis races May 30 was one of
the high lights of their visit.
Mr. and Mrs. George Diggs of
Dorsey Drive, and their baby
daughter, Jan, spent a few days
last week at Vogel State Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon L. Kraft,
daughters, Terry and Kathy,
flew to California last week.
Disney Land, The Marine Land
of the Pacific, Kottsberry Ghost
Farm were among the many
points of interest visited.
The R. S. Sullivan family of
Woodland Drive have been de
lighted to entertain from Feb
ruary through April, Mr. Sulli
van Sr. of Massachusetts. Then
in April, their daughter, Mrs.
Loinel Camara, and 3-year-old
daughter, Cherie, of Hawaii, ar
rived by jet to spend some weeks
here while her husband was in
Advanced Officers Training
School, in Augusta. After vari
ous trips to Florida, New Or
leans, Chattanooga, etc., this
week finds them in New York.
The visitors will fly home next
week when school is finished.
Dr. Thomas Coffee and his
fiancee Miss Elaine Mocarski,
have returned to New York to
resume their teaching, after a
wonderful vacation here, with
his mother, Mrs. Coffee of Col
lege Street. A family reunion at
Lake Spivey on June 6 with 23
present, was a fine introduction

in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Mathews
and daughters of Ash Street,
are in Daytona, Flordia, enjoy
ing a vacation.
Mrs. Homer Parker and son
Terry, attended the funeral of an
aunt in Metter, Ga. They ex
tended their stay in the South
to visit Mrs. Parker’s father in
Statesboro, and other members
of the family.
The Forest Park Harmonettes
spent last week-end in Jackson
ville, Florida, guests of Mr. and
Mrs. J. B. McKinney, who are
the parents of Mrs. Terrell Starr,
one of the Harmonettes. The
group sang at the South Side
Baptist Church on Sunday morn
ing and visited the church
school.
Mr. and Mrs. Terrell Starr and
the children stayed on in Jack
sonville for a few days.

playmates are all looking for

able to be out again after his ill
ness with the chicken pox.
Mrs. O. A. Denham of High
way 85 is a patient in Crawford
Long Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Aber
crombie of Cottage Place are
spending their vacation touring
Florida.
Mr. Jerry Hutcheson, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Hutcheson
of Highway 85, is now home for
the summer, where he has been
attending school at the Univer
sity of Georgia.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stanford
of Delta had as their guest for
the week-end Mrs. Stanford’s
mother, Mrs. R. T. Collins of
Atlanta.

Wedding
The marriage between Miss
Vicki Maureen House, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Leo H. House,
and Howard William Turner, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Glen H. Turner,
was solemnized June 3 at River
dale Methodist Church, with
Rev. N. O. Swanson officiating.
The altar was beautifully dec
orated with flowers and can
delabra; the candlelighters were
James Turner and Leo House.
The soloist was Mr. John Joiner,
accompanied by Mr. John L.
Hames of Jonesboro. Ushers and
groomsmen were Paul Steivman,
Lanny Gerlock and Ivan Hari
san. Ringbearer was David
Turner. Mr. Turner acted as
best man for his son.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a gown of
white rose lace. Her veil of
illusion was held by a crown of
rhinestones. She carried gar
denias on a white Bible with
satin streamers.
After a short wedding trip, the
couple will make their home in
Dillon, S. C., where Mr. Turner
will serve as associate pastor
and recreation director at the
Dillon Presbyterian Church, for
the summer months.

Wed June 3 in College Park
Carol Ann Barnette, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. H. F.
Barnette of College Park, and Rev. Roy N. Tucker, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tucker of LaGrange were married June
3, in a ceremony at Liberty Baptist Church, College Park,
in the presence of family and
friends.

mony. Jack Shindelar of Atlanta
was best man. Serving as usher
groomsmen were Jim Parish
and Ralph Medlock of Macon.
Eleanor McLendon was maid of
honor, and Linda and Brenda
Barnette, sisters of the bride,
were bridesmaids.
The bride, given in marriage
by her brother, Philip Barnette,
wore a gown of satin with lace
over satin bodice. Her veil fell
from a crown of seed pearls. She
carried a white Bible topped
with a white orchid.
Following the ceremony the
bride’s parents entertained at a
reception in the fellowship hall
of the church.
Miss Jerry Gentry of Carroll
ton played the piano and Mrs.
William Davis sang “Oh Per
fect Love” and “Whither Thou
Goest.”
Miss Elizabeth Whitehead kept
the bride’s book. Miss Darlene
Mr. Wortham Heard, son of
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Heard, has
returned home for the summer
months. Mr. Heard taught school
last year in Franklin, Ga.
Mr. and Mrs. Pope Dickson
and Mr. and Mrs. Alton McKib
ben vacationed for a few days
in Panama City, Fla., last week.
Dr. and Mrs. E. Smith, accom
panied by Mrs. Smith’s sister,
Mrs. T. W. O’Neal Sr., Mr. O’Neal
and their granddaughter, Tracy,
of Atlanta, left on Friday, June
1, for New York City, N. Y. On
their return trip they will stop
over in Washington, D. C., for
a few days.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bell and son,
Tommy, flew to Jackson, Miss.,
and spent the week-end with
friends they made while in
Alaska, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis
Peeples and family.
Mrs. John Hill and son,
Everett, were guests of Mrs.
Hill’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Green, in Memphis, Tenn., for
a week.

tricia Hadley, Savannah; Lydia
Free, Athens, and Linda Ander
son, Statesboro, served at the
reception.
The happy couple will make
their home in Macon, Ga., where
she will continue her education
at Tift College and he will be
at Mercer.

aunt, Mrs. Jane Timmons, and
family for a week recently.
Mr. and Mrs. George Smith
and son, Lindsey, spent a two
weeks’ vacation in Sanford and
Daytona Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Farrington Abbott and
four lovely children of Auburn,
Maine, arrived June 14 to be the
house guests of Mrs. Mary Sin
gleton. On June 15 Mrs. Single
ton had as her dinner guests,
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McCurry and
two sons of Newnan, Ga., Mr.
R. J. Alexander of Danville, Va.,
and James Singleton of Athens,
Ga.
Miss Kay Johnson of Perry,
Ga., visited Mr. and Mrs. R. L.
Wood for two-weeks. •
Mrs. J. B. Edmonds was the
guest of her sister, Mrs. J. N.
Jackson, in Macon, Ga., on Sun
day.
Mrs. Elsie Cauthen and Mrs.
J. W. Taylor spent last week in
the Smokies, visiting Hender
sonville, and Asheville, N. C., and
Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Atwood
and Mrs. Blocker Martin of
Houston, Texas,, have returned
to their home after a week’s visit
with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jones at
tended the graduation of their
granddaughter, Cecelia Lewis,
in Alauchua, Fla., on Wednes
day evening. They returned
home on Friday evening.
Mrs. Charles Mahoney, Mr.
and Mrs. Walton Morgan and
daughter, Susan, of Madison,
Ind., spent the week of June 3
with Mrs. H. D. Kemper and Mr.
and Mrs. Allen Kemper and
family. Dr. and Mrs. J. C.
Kemper and children of Pelham,
Ga., also visited their mother,
Mrs. H. D. Kemper, other rela
tives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. William Pruitt
and family are vacationing in
Terre Haute, Ind. They are the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pruitt’s
parents.
Mrs. A. C. Henslee of Cardiff,
Calif., has been visiting relatives
in Georgia for a month. Mrs.
Henslee is an aunt of Mr. E. B.
Busby and was the Busby’s guest
over the week-end.
