North Clayton News
The S. K. Acree family spent
most of the past week in Hi
wassee. They visited his brother,
Dr. and Mrs. John Acree and
toured the district, enjoying the
coolness of the mountain, and
the fine scenery.
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. White of
Davis Road spent last week at
Red Top State Park. Billy and
Becky went along too, and all
enjoyed camping, fishing, swim
ming and the general life of the
camp.
Miss Marian White elected to
spend the week with her grand
mother, Mrs. White, in Decatur.
Mike and Marsha Sampson are
back home on Dent Avenue after
a bout in the hospital where
they left their tonsils. They are
doing fine now.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Simmons of
Riverdale Road and son, Tim,
are home from Panama City,
Fla., where they enjoyed a vaca
tion, swimming and sunning on
the beach.
Mr. Marvin Privett of Tanner
Road is home from the hospital,
and is making good progress.
His friends are wishing him a
speedy return to good health
and looking forward to seeing
him around again.

Jones and Terrell Davis on win
ning the Kiwanis Scholarship
Award of $250 in cash, to be used
toward a college education.
Miss Jones was also the winner
of the Atlanta Journal Cup for
the Best All Around Senior Stu
dent.
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Bone and
family of Augusta, Ga., were
spend-the-day guests of the
Rudolph Jones family last Fri
day. Mr. Bone and Mrs. Jones
are brother and sister.
At North Clayton High grad
uation exercises, the class his
tory was given by the class
president, Miss Nancy Denmark;
the invocation by Miss Nancy
Rhyne, and Miss Rudine Jones
was valedictorian. The school
had one of the finest graduating
classes in the school’s history,
one which everyone is proud of.

away Sunday, June 1, following
a heart attack.

Mr. W. C. Alexander of 1707
Hembrie Drive, College Park,
passed away at an Atlanta hos
pital following a heart attack,
on Sunday June 1. Mr. Alexander
had been in the hospital almost
two weeks, and was thought to
be improving. He had lived a
busy life, was full of enthusiam
for his community, and his
church, Live Oak Baptist. He was
a member of The Masonic Lodge
in East Point, a member of The
Patron’s Club, Eastern Star,
served on the advisory board of
East Point Rainbow Assembly.
At the time of his illness, Mr.
Alexander was employed as Main
Order Cleric, Fulton Paper Com
pany, where he worked 'for ’ the
past 15 years. He and Mrs. Alex
ander, the former Miss Virginia
Vaughn, would have married 25
years next January. Both are
from Elberton, Ga. Besides his
wife, he is survived by four chil
dren, Vivian, James, Virginia,
Glenn, 5 brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held, Tues
day, June 5 at the Hemperly
Chapel with Rev. Thomas Per
kins, officiating. Interment was
in Elberton Cemetery, Ga.
George P. Babb, Sr.
The death of Mr. George
Parker Babb, Sr. of Lovejoy, Ga.
was much deplored by his many
friends. Mr. Babb was a member
of Lovejoy Methodist Church, a
member of Jonesboro Lodge 87
served for 12 years on the Clay
ton Courty Board of Education.
He alsr served for 15 years on
the Clayton County Democratic
Committee. He was a merchant
of Lovejoy and wa* honored and
esteemed by all who nad con
tact with him. He is survived by
his wife and one son, George
Parker Babb Jr. of Atlanta.

Mrs. Brock was a member of
the Second Baptist Church,
Riverdale. She was active in
church and civic affairs in the
community and will be greatly
missed by all who loved her.
