The visitors last week at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Kelly
on Park Drive, were cousins
from Crary, N. Dakota. The
B. A. Osbornes were en route to
Florida for the winter and
broke their journey here, much
to the delight of their hosts.
Last week-end the Kelleys
were in Augusta visiting their
son and daughter-in-law and
the children.
L/Col and Mrs. J. R. Turner
(yes, that’s right—L/Col) have
moved house. They have bought
a lovely new home at 1208
Sequoia Drive and last week,
enjoyed their first house guest.
She is Mrs. W. D. Smith of
Chattanooga, sister-in-law of
the Turners.
Dinner guests at the home of
the Terrell Starrs last Thursday
night were Mr. and Mrs. Stroud,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lee and Mr.
and Mrs. W. H. Purvis.
The C. L. Chatham home on
Lee Circle has been a particu
larly happy place of late. Rodger
has been home on a nice long
leave from his base in San
Diego, Calif. Rodger is attached

The senior girls of North
Clayton High were hostesses at
a miscellaneous bridal shower
given for Mrs. Anthony Carter, ।
the former Miss Vernelle Long.
The affair was held at the
home of Miss Judy Lentz on W.
Fayetteville Road and some 50
gifts were presented the bride.
And last Saturday saw the
happy couple honored with an
other shower, this time at Live
Oak Baptist Church. The dining
hall was tastefully decorated
for the occasion and hostesses
were Mrs. Bobby Mason and
Mrs. Bill Hudson.
The Midget football teams
were honored at a banquet Nov.
24 at the G. W. Northcutt
School Cafeteria. The Midgets’
colors, orange and white, deco
rated the room and arrange
ments carried out the theme.
Each member of the teams—ll 2
lbs. and 90 lbs. were presented
a trophy, Mr. Neal Marchbanks,
Recreational Director of College
Park, making the presentation.

to USS Rogers, and has just
been advanced to rank of RM.3.
He has been overseas on a
West-Tac cruise for six months,
during which time his ship won
the Battle Efficiency Award.
There was a Trim-the-Tree
party at the D. Stull home on
Alder Street last Saturday
night. Miss Dianne Stull and
her guests had a ball getting
that tree just as they wanted
it. They found time for records
and a spot of dancing too, and
of course for refreshments.
“A boy and his dog” has been
altered somewhat by young
Mark Poppellof Conley. Heis “a
boy and his Rooster”—and how:
Rooster Comb, so named be
cause he is mostly “comb”, are
inseparable, R. C. sitting on the
arm of Mark’s chair at meal
times.
Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Stone were
hosts at a dinner party at their
home last Thursday night.
Guests included his parents,
and Mr. and Mrs. Haugh of
Manchester, Conn., and the
Fletchers from Brooks, Ga.
1 School principals, Mr. Oliver
and Mr. England, and Coach
' Jenkins were among the guests
।as were the parents of the
i teams and the cheerleaders. A
miniature football was presented j
each cheerleader. The meal of
steak, mashed potatoes, string
; beans, ice cream, and coffee,
was delicious, and the evening
- quite a success.
And here is a word for the
men—The men of St. Andrews
Methodist Church. Those 7
o’clock Sunday morning break
fasts are really something—
every first Sunday in the
month. They took care of the
Vacation Bible School and had
a fine time. And they have a
Christmas party and tree
planned for the children of the
church. Some twenty of these
valiant men are involved in
. these tasks for the good of their
l church, and their community.

Aiken, S. C., where she went to
be with her new grandson,
Kevin. Mr. Davis, Johnny and
Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Davis
spent the week-end in Aiken
and Mrs. Davis returned with
them.
Mr. and Mrs. Earle Dyson
were week-end guests of Mrs.
W. K. Summers at Cedar Bluff,
Ala. Mr. and Mrs. Dyson had as
their guests at their mountain
home during the holidays, their
son, V. C. Blackwell, Mrs. Black
well and daughters, Toni and
Andrea, of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moessner
will have as their house guests,
their daughter, Mrs. Fred
Hughes, Mr. Hughes and son,
Spencer, of Cincinnati, Ohio,
during the Christmas holidays.
Mrs. Pope Dickson recently
enjoyed a week-end at Callaway
Gardens.

left on Nov. 30 for St. Marks,
Fla., for a fishing vacation.
They also fished at Steinhatchee
and Apalachicola, Fla., before
returning home.

Drive. The children will be
visited by Santa Claus and will
be served refreshments by the
Jaycettes.
A special treat will be in store
for the Jonesboro Area on De
cember twentieth (20) when the
Jaycees tackle the men of the
high school faculty for a “rip
roaring” basketball game at the
high school gymnasium. The
game will be quite a sporting
event and the players will be a
sight to see also. The general
