'Deep-Rooted' Gov.-Elect Sanders to Fire
Clayton County Man As His First Maneuver
JUDGE ALAN KEMPER, WELL LIKED BY FOUR PREVIOUS GOVERNORS,

n ATwv r A We ( re County who insisted that Carl Sanders HAD TO BE elected Governor—and HAD TO
CARRY Clayton County—-becaus© of the deep’ family roots—grandfather, father, etc., who once lived in the county.
He was “devoted” to Clayton!
Fine! From Rex to the Pan
handle the call went out to
“elect Sanders!” “Ground” Grif
fin. The story was told well
about the ROOTS and all the
i rest.
These ciayron men said that
there was no truth in the story
that Sen. Sanders was involved
up to the nape in the wall-to
wall carpet racket that cost a
lot of people their homes when
they discovered they had signed
wall-to-wall second mortgages.
They also said that the Shell
Homes racket was not so, or if
it was, Sen. Carl Sanders wasn’t

Forest Park, Georgia
in it. Wasn’t he? Who was presi
dent? Who was the big official
in the wall-to-wall charade!
Anyway, the radio carried the
BIG NEWS Tuesday. Governor
elect Sanders was up at the
Capitol addressing the fresh
man legislators in their annual
“indoctrination” sessions. We
were there.
Reporters learned from Gov
ernor-elect Sanders that the
first man he was going to re
place who is now in office is a
CLAYTON COUNTY VETERAN
OFFICIAL—Judge Alan Kemper,
head of the Welfare Depart
ment for the State of Georgia.
That’s really NICE . .. if that
isn’t sinking your ROOTS into
the quagmire of two-faced po
litical shenanigans, then Gov.-
elect Sanders is a Sunday School
teacher; and he hasn’t even
taken office yet.
Gov.-elect Sanders finds now
that he will have to FIRE
Kemper, who has a SON BED
RIDDEN by POLIO, because
Judge Kemper has notified him
by letter that under no circum
stances will he resign.
Kemper has done a splendid
job for the State of Georgia for
more than 15 years under four
administrations at the Capitol.
Judge Kemper has never been
involved in any scandal, and he
certainly appeared to have the
backing and good will of the
present Governor Vandiver, old
“Honest Ernest.”
Kemper had the good will of
Herman Talmadge and he had
the good will of Marvin Grif
fin. Why does Governor-elect
Sanders see fit to make this fine
Clayton County citizen his first
target in what is obviously
destined to be a four-year fiasco
of gubernatorial gobbledygook?
Everybody in Clayton County
who voted for Gov. - elect
Sanders can HAVE HIM. As for
us, we’ll remember WELL the
time he came out for his cousin
—he’s still under indictment
for barratry in Clayton County
—Col. Raymond Sanders — to
dedicate the Clayton Plaza
Shopping Center.
The speaker’s platform was in
the right place, but the loud
speaker horns were so placed
that the wind blew Sen. Sanders’
remarks across Highway 54, and
very few of the not so many
people there heard a word he
said.
When we asked him after
wards for some notes on his re
marks he said, in effect, that he
was too busy—and his arro
gance will long be remembered
by us. He deprived the Center
of a story on the dedication, for

Why didn’t Governor-elect

the amount of money they spent

losing candidate Marvin Griffin
did? What did they have to hide
this time? A million dollars?
