said property into the city of
Forest Park. Your two (2) rep
resentatives and a member of
the Board of Education will be
present.
Come and be informed about
this proposed legislation and ex

injury.
The GEMS repairs many types
of equipment, including heavy
roadbuilding machinery, crawler
tractors, towing tractors, earth
moving equipment, chemical
firefighting trucks, and numer
ous other types of heavy equip
ment. Work in the GEMS entails
j the use of such things as an
! overhead bridge crane capable
[of lifting 25 tons; an overhead
crane which can completely
turn over an 8-ton crawler
frame; and a 3-ton hoise for
moving rebuilt engines.
Safety signs and mottoes are
much in evidence: a flashing
sign keeps personnel informed
that the shop has gone 388 days
without a lost-time accident
and that the best previous rec
ord was 743 days. The entrance
to one work area carries a large
sign on the left, “Alert 8 hours
today," while on the right a sign
completes the message "Alive 24
hours tomorrow.” Other signs
and mottoes are scattered
throughout the repair shop.

New Service
Drug Tax
In Jonesboro
A new service to provide the
average family with an annual
record of drug purchases for
federal income tax purposes is
being started in Clayton County
by Jonesboro Drug Company.
Dr. W. A. Evans, owner of the
store, said the service will be
provided without charge to cus
tomers.
The system, called Drug Tax,,
uses data processing equipment
to keep a record of drug store
purchases that may be deduc
! tible in computing federal in
' come tax returns.
Dr. Evans said each customer
will be asigned a code number—
in most cases the family tele
| phone number.
Each purchase will be recorded
I on “memory” tapes, which later
will be fed into computing equip
i ment. At the end of the year,
Drug Tax, Inc. will mail each
customer a record of the total
I amount which may be deductible
| in computing the tax return.
“Many taxpayers,” Dr. Evans
said,, “have not taken their
proper deductions, or have not
taken the full amount allowed,
because they have not had proof
of purchase or did not know
what items are of deductible I
nature.”
He indicated that literally
hundreds of drug items may be
deductible, and said the new
Drug Tax system “should help ।
