Col. Joseph Alexander Honored
At Bank of Forest Park Dinner
Many of Clayton County’s VlP’s—very invited people—had the pleasure of meeting
Colonel Joseph Paul Alexander, the delightful new Commander of the Atlanta Army
Depot, at the Bank of Forest Park’s outstanding dinner last week at Air Host Inn
Messrs. Humphrey Traylor, executive VP and public relations officer, and President
Charles Duncan did themselves proud as hosts at this gala affair.
It was a night designed to
honor Colonel Alexander, and,
indeed, such a night it was, and
the only thing missing was that
they didn’t pipe in an old Dixie
land favorite—‘‘Alexander’s Rag
time Band.” That would have
gone along perfectly with that
soft Southern drawl of Col. Alex
ander, who told his hosts and
Judge Banke Back

tinguished trial lawyer and ne
gotiator for the release of Cuban
prisoners; E. G. Marshall of the
“Defenders” and many distin
guished British Justices.
The conference was organized
in 1958 to give triai judges an op
portunity to exchange new ideas
and formulate programs for im
proving the administration of
justice.
Judge Banke said, “This con
ference was very helpful to me.
Professional men are faced with
the problem of continuing edu
cation and a conference of this
type helps in that direction.”
Football Bursts On
(Continued From Page 1)
quarterbacks, Mack Bass, has
torn cartelage in his ankle and
will miss the first three games.
However, Coach Max Dowis of
North Clayton has his troubles,
too, for a reliable tackle, J. D.
Farmer, is on the doubtful list
with a shoulder injury. He hurt
it the first week out, working in
shorts, and has seen virtually no
service since and is making
periodic visits to a doctor.
“We have been banged up
pretty good in practice,” explain
ed Dawis.”
Coach McDonald is expecting
no victory for the Panthers. “In
order to make it a real ball game
we’ve got to be at our very best,”
he said. “That’ll be hard to do
in the season’s opener. North
Clayton was great last year and
I understand they’re stronger
this year.”
“We don’t have the ground
power,” said Dowis of the Eagles.
“Therefore we’ve got to go into
the air more this year. I antici
pate a very close game with For
est Park. They have four backs—
Vaughn, Donahue, Hodges and
Akin—who can break up a ball
game any minute.”
