Reptile Show Wayne Crooke has
studied reptiles all his life, and
especially at all the places he
visited as a paratrooper with.
the One Hundred and First Air- j
borne Division. He handled all I
the snakes with extreme care
and related his demonstrations i
into Boy Scout Merit Badge work
in the Reptile, Conservation,
First Aid. and Safety fields. He
I illustrated his talk with many

One female teenage visitor
looked at Wayne’s pets with
such horror that you would
think she had seen Castro with
out his beard or maybe even one
of the four Beatles with a crew
cut.
Did you ever try to put a
twisting uncooperative timber
rattlesnake into a small cloth
bag? The kind used by banks to
carry small amounts of money?
Well your reporter did! It felt
like we were trying to put that
5-foot thrashing baby into a
thimble. Wayne Crooke, he’s
brave, but your reporter was
wondering if this would be his
LAST BOY SCOUT WEEK. Look
ma, no snake bites!

The February meeting of the
Woman's Society of Christian
Service. Jones Memorial Meth
odist Church, was held Feb. 5 at
the church. Mrs. E. A. Dunbar,
president, presided.
The Letha Tanner Circle was
responsible for the program,
which dealt with the subject,
“Where Does a Christian Wom
an Volunteer Her Time”.
The guest speaker, Mrs. Homer
Park, was introduced by Mrs.
Frederick Lee, chairman of the
Circle. Mrs. Parker has been in
strumental in forwarding many
movements for the good of the
city and county, has worked
with Clayton County Family and
aluminum house trailers. Along with the Har
bins, in their own trailer, were Mr. and Mrs.
Terrell W’alker. These trailerites plan to attend
another rally at Princeton. N. J., during the
New York World’s Fair in July. The above aer

attended the rally.
Children organization, with her
church, and with Boy Scouts, to
mention just a few of her ac

esting and helpful, and was
greatly appreciated.
The soloist for the meeting
was Mrs. Robert Kildo, her two
songs fitting perfectly with the
theme.
The business meeting was fol

came the first part of a book
study.
Attention was called to the
World Day of Prayer, services to

That greenish film you some
times notice around the outside
yolk of a hard-cooked egg is
ferrous sulfide, formed by a
chemical reaction between the
iron and sulfur in the egg. Ex
tension Service nutritionists say
the ferrous sulfide film occurs
most often around the yolks of
eggs that have been cooked too
long or at temperatures which
are too high.
NUTRITIOUS MILK
The nutrients which make
milk an excellent food for chil
dren also make it important
for adults. Miss Lucile Higgin
botham, head of the Cooperative
Extension Service health depart
ment, says milk is an especially
valuable food for elderly persons
because it is high in protein,
minerals, and vitamins.
COOKING PORK
Mrs. Rita Waters, nutritionist
with the Cooperative Extension
Service, says it is important to
'eodk 1 fresh pork thoroughly
done. She points out that rare
pork may contain trichina, an
organism that causes a non
contagious disease called trichi
nosis in humans.

I wish it was possible to visit all of you in your I
homes, this includes the former school superin- |
tendents. Mr. Will Huie, College Park; Mr. Ware I
Calloway, Forest Park, and the present superin- K
tendent, Mr. Ed Edmonds, Jonesboro; also, the I
teachers and bus drivers who I had the privilege I
to work with.
I often think of the many good times we had I
taking the football and basketball teams and school |p
bands to their games out of town and those won- [■
derful “Class Picnics”, those were the ‘good ole I
days". They were the happiest days of my life. I I
will never forget them. Although we didn't make ■
much money we had a wonderful time. I want all I*
of you to feel free to call on me at anytime, not B
just at election time. Please accept this as a per- B
sonal visit from me. I love you all and God bless you. B
In addition, I want to add, I know by past ex- B
perience what it means for the county to have good B
roads, I also know what it means to have a com- K
missioner who feels that the mail routes and school It
bus routes need constant attention. I feel that Gov. I
Carl Sanders, the legislators and Senators have the B
same view that I do by the new education program |
that has been voted on recently in our state. I B
promise priority to the county roads above every- I
thing else. As we know education is the future of I
