and emotionally disturbed.
Joseph F. Asher, past president
of the Exchange Club, presented
Miss Howard with a check for
$5,000 for the school, located at
1790 La Vista Road Northeast.
Gov. Sanders said one of the
greatest needs in education is
special care to exceptional chil
dren such as that given to the
less than 50 students at the
school which Miss Howard
founded 14 years ago.
He broadened his statements
on education to say that up to
now Georgia has played the
game of follow the leader. “We've
had people to make fun of what
we are doing,” he stated. “But
today ... we are the leader.”
The ultimate goal, he said, is
not only to provide education
which has been denied many in
, Georgia, but to implement the

Organization.
In addition to flying anti-sub
marine warfare and shipping
surveillance flights, the detach
ment will also participate in the
International Ice Patrol. These
ice patrols serve the purpose of
informing maritime interests of
shipping hazards in the form of
ice bergs and ice floes, which
break free from the Greenland
icecap and flow southward into
international shipping lanes.

plants down and back into the
soil for the winter. Leaves start
changing color from green to a
variety of many pretty colors.
SOIL and WATER conserva
tion farmers in carrying out the
conservation plans for their
farms in cooperation with the
Upper Ocmulgee River District
Supervisors are also changing
their program of work to FALL
conservation practices.
Dr. W. B. Spivey renovated a
16-acre pasture last week, by
preparing the land by plowing,
harrowing and some smoothing
