After several months of
preparation, the Clayton

The schedule, approved at
the commissioners’ regular
meeting Tuesday, will go
into effect for all businesses
March 15.
According to the schedule,
the license fees will range
from $5 to SSOO. payable by
April 1. However, an exam

that most businesses will be
required to pay from $5 to
S3O.
Groceries will pay from $5

$25, service stations $lO per
gasoline pump, a TV repair

and wine sales SSOO.
Large m a n u f a c t u r ing

County officials said busi

the fee that will apply their
respective firms.
Commissioner P. K. Dixon
said the license schedule was
not adopted for the purpose
of obtaining revenue for the
county, but to regulate and
keep track of business. At
tempts can be made to con

explained.
We just hope we can
make the new' license de
partment break even," an
official said.
A spokesman for the com
missioners said there is no
way of knowing at this time
how much money the new
program will bring into the
county s treasury. “We won’t
know for sure how we stand
until next summer," he said.
The licensing department
was established under a 1963
legislative bill which was
approved in 1964 by voters
in Clayton. Z. H. Rinks of

THE TASK THAT IS GIVEN TO YOU
<By J E Hunt, published in Clayton County
News and Farmer, Dec. 18, 19361
To each one is given a marble to carve for the wall;
A stone that is needed to he'ghten the beauty of all;
And only His soul has tire magic to give grace,
And only His hands have the cunning to put it in place.
Yes, the task that is given to each one, no other can do;
So the errand is waiting, it has waited through the
ages, for you.
Now you appear, and the hushed ones are turning
their gaze,
To see what you do with your chance in the chamber
of days.
