On June 11, 1966, John G. Hale
executed a Note for Two Thousand
Five Hundred Thirty-Seven and
76/100 ($2,537.76) Dollars, payable
to Wilbur B. Massey and Joann
Massey, which note was payable in
48 monthly installments of $52.87
each, commencing on the 15th day
of July, 1966, and on the same day
of each month thereafter until fully
paid. In order to secure the pay
ment of said note, the said John G.
Hale executed a Deed to Secure
Debt in favor of Wilbur B. Massey
and Joann Massey, subject to a
prior security deed in favor of At
lanta Federal Savings & Loan As

failure of the grantor to meet the
payments as provided in said note
and to comply with the terms as
contained in the aforesaid deed to
secure debt, after advertising same
once a week for four weeks in a
newspaper published in the county
where the land lies, or in the news
paper in which the sheriff’s adver
tisement for such county are pub
lished.
Said note has not been paid as
provided for therein and is now in
default, and the terms and provi
sions contained in said deed to se
cure debt have not been complied
with, and by virtue of the powers
contained in the aforesaid Deed to
Secure Debt, said Wilbur B. Mas
sey and Joann Massey will sell the
above described property at public
outcry on the first Tuesday in April
1967, in front of the courthouse door

Like a sweet topping for ap
ple one-crust pie or coffee cake?
Mix 1 cup crushed cornflakes
with 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon
cinnamon and 2 tablespoons
softened butter. Crumble over
top.
Leftover bread? Don’t toss it
away, toss it into a dessert like
custard bread pudding, apple
brown betty, bread crumb
griddle cakes, etc.
When making chocolate or
caramel sauce fortopping, make
a double batch. It’s good for
plain custard, sherbet, ice cream
or cake.
One cooky, two or three will
often make dessert for you.
Slight changes can vary cookies
easily, like chopped dates and
candied cherries for raisins in a
brown sugar drop cookie or
black walnuts in a bar cooky to
replace walnuts or pecans.
Serve a fruit salad for salad
dessert. Try dark sweet cherries
in the same type of gelatin with
mandarin orange sections,
marshmallows, nuts and celery.

Shoestring Eggplant
(8 servings)
1 small eggplant
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water
1 cup fine cracker crumbs
salt
Pare eggplant; slice 1/2-
inch thick. Cut slices into 1/2-
inch strips. Soak in iced, salted
water 30 minutes; dry. Dip in
to egg to which has been added
water. Roll in cracker crumbs.
Shallow-fry in skillet. Drain
on absorbent paper; sprinkle
with salt.
