Club held its first meeting
of March at the Barbecue
Kitchen Monday, the 13th
at 7 p.m. The Civitans not
only enjoyed the excellent
menu and R. C. Yarbrough’s
hospitality, but also a busi
ness packed schedule. The
Forest Park Civitans enjoyed
a program presented by
Graham Fulton concerning
Cancer
Crusade

serving as Special Events
Chairman for the Clayton
County Unit of the Ameri
can Cancer Society. Mr. Car
ter has completed his plans
for the annual crusade
“Kick-Off” for 1967 event to
be held at the Lake Shore
Country Club, March 31 at
12:00 noon.
The theme for the lunch
eon will be “Six For The
Sixties". The newly formed
Jonesboro Junior Woman's
Club will be official host
ess and is planning and
making decorations for the
event. Plans are to be for a
real gala affair with the
club decorated with a west
ern air . . . The girls in the
Jonesboro Junior Woman's
Club will be costumed as
“Cowgirls” to greet everyone
as they arrive. Tables and
entrance hall will also carry
out the western theme.
Everyone will be given a
badge and checkered scarf
•and a good time is planned
for all.. . Door prizes will be
given to add that extra flair.
The main purpose of the
event is to kick-off the 1967
Education - Funds Crusade
for Clayton County. All the
volunteers enlisted for the
crusade are invited and
urged to attend. The lunch
eon will be Dutch-Treat at
$2.00 a plate. Ed Hammond,
vice-president of the Geor
gia Power Co., will be the
guest speaker. Each volun
teer will be challenged to
learn the dangers, dimen
sions and opportunities of
cancer. All the “Deputies
Sworn to Fight Cancer" are
planning to be there . . .
investments on the stock
market. Mr. Fulton pre
sented a movie to show an
overall example of careful
planning and what can be
provided in one’s income by
working with the “sure and
slower" blue chip and A
plus stocks. A number of ap
proaches to stock purchas
ing plans were discussed.
After the movie, a question
and answer period followed.
Mr. Fulton is associated with
Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fen
ner and Smith, Inc.
A report was given con
cerning the final Civitan
District Council meeting
that was held in Athens,
Georgia at the University of
Georgia Center for Con
tinuing Education. The For
est Park Civitans had seven
members in attendance plus
two from the new Atlanta
Airport Civitan Club. The
Forest Park Civitans re
ceived recognition for their
work throughout the year.
The Forest Park Civitans
were busy laying out their
District Convention plans,
realizing that only a num
ber of weeks remain in
which to get the many de
tails finalized. President
Martin Holman commis
sioned a nominating com
mittee to draft a new slate
of officers and present the
ballot to the members be
fore the first meeting in
April. The chairman of the
committee is Reverend Clint
Rogers and his committee
consists of Reg Hancock,
Johnny Howard, Bill Green
and Gordon Kraft.
After enjoying an action
packed meeting, the Forest
Park Civitans were dis
missed by Reverend Clint
Rogers with a benediction.
White-crowned pigeons
are found in the Florida
Keys.

Club
The Morrow Home Eco
nomics Club held its regular
meeting March 8 at the
Morrow Methodist Church.
Mrs. Clarence Williams
called the meeting to order
and led the salute to the
flag. Sixteen members were
present.
The devotional was given
by Mrs. L. T. Allison, Psalms
one hundred and twenty
one, safety of the godly who
trust in God; also poem, I
Lift Up Mine Eyes Unto Thy
Hills, by Dorothy Stewart of
Jonesboro.
The club voted to sponsor
two 4-H clubs who are
county winners in their re
spective projects, to attend
district project achievement
to be held at Rock Eagle in
June.
Miss Mary Francis White
gave a demonstration on use
of freezers in the home, how
to balance diet, take advan
tage of sales and save trips
to the store, also the econ
omy of freezing fruits and
vegetables in season.
A covered dish lunch was
enjoyed by all.
Mrs. Virginia Chastain
and Mrs. Jackie Yancy were
hostesses.

The Hendrix Drive PTA

The emphasis this month
is on The Arts and Curricu
lum activities. In keeping
with this theme, the Sixth
Grade Chorus will sing.
This will be election night
and the nominating com
mittee will submit the slate
of officers for the coming
year. After the business
meeting, you may tour the
Art exhibit and Curriculum
display. This will be an ex
cellent opportunity to see
some of the things your
children have been doing, so
we hope to see you there.
