You thought it was an ordinary electric
light? Well, the truth is, a fluorescent
lamp converts only 20' < of the electricity
it uses into light. The other 80S converts
to heat. There is no trick to that.
The trick is to put all the accumulated
heat where it’s needed. And get rid of the
heat where it’s not needed. When you do
that, you are actually heating with light.
And your building doesn’t have to be
a 20-story glass and steel skyscraper to
make heating with light practical, pleas
urable anfl economical. It just has to have
fluorescent light.
Heating with light is a good idea to

girls from Epsilon Beta

Riverdale
Scouts See
Circus
The Riverdale Jaycees ac
companied one hundred and
sixty Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts,
Cub Scouts and Brownies
from the Riverdale area to
the Shrine Circus held at the
Municipal Auditorium. The
group was escorted to and
from the circus by members
of the Shrine Motor Corps.
Admission to this enjoyable
event was made possible by
the cooperation and support
of the fine merchants of Riv
erdale. This was one of the
many Jaycee projects aimed
at promoting youth activity
and development in the
community.

Program
The Atlanta Ballet Com
pany will present a program
at an evening performance
at the 15th annual Arts Fes
tival of Atlanta, May 19-26
in Piedmont Park. As a fes
tival of performing as well
as visual arts, the week long
event will feature dally per
forming arts programs. Also
appearing will be other dance
groups: featured will be the
Southern Ballet Companies,
the Ruth Mitchell Groups,
the Decatur-DeKalb Civic
Ballet, and the Atlanta
Ballet Apprentice Company.
Outstanding musical pro
grams are planned by: At
lanta Symphony Brass Quin
tet, Atlanta Singers, Spel
man-Morehouse Chorus, The
Third Army Band and the
Atlanta Festival Symphony
Orchestra.
Several theatre groups will
perform including: The
Children’s Civic Theatre,
Theatre Atlanta Children’s
Theatre, Actors and Writers
Workshop Children’s Thea
tre, and the Academy Chil
dren's Theatre. Several of
the area’s finest elementary
and high school bands will
also perform.
Special for the children
are daily puppet shows.
The Short Cummings, and
music groups from Georgia
State College are also on the
program. All performances
are open free to the public.

cording to Ralph Johnson,

million bushels of soybeans
for feed mixing purposes to
go into poultry, livestock and
dairy feed

letter of commendation for
his bravery in responding to
an emergency on the morn
ing of November 1, 1967 when
the Navy Exchange Main
Store at Taipei, Republic of
China (Taiwan) caught fire.
PFC Purl’s quick thinking
and action contributed im
measurably to minimize
damage and loss to both
property and personnel. Pri
vate Purl organized work
parties and directed and
aided volunteers and fought
the spread of flames which
were raging out of control.
By his prompt and willing
ness to serve in a crisis PFC
Purl upheld the finest tradi
tions of the United States

Army on Dec. 6.1966, through
the North Tonawanda Army
Recruiting Station. He re
ceived his basic training at
Fort Dlx, New Jersey and
was an honor graduate from
the U. S. Army Signal Corps
School at Fort Gordon. Geor
gia, as well as Fort Dix.
While living in Tonawanda,
PFC Purl was active In
League baseball as player In
senior ball, also as a man
ager of a Little League team
as well as coaching other
teams.
He was born on April 3,
1948, at Fort MacPherson,
Georgia. He is the third
eldest of eight children. PFC
Purl’s father Is a Senior
Master Sgt. (retired) of the
Air Force having served 22
years.
