4 Baptist Salute to
A TV Newsman
For a Baptist publication to praise a Methodist layman
is a rare happening. But Ray Moore is a rare Methodist lay
man. His resignation as news director of WSB-TV in At-
in Christian fields, always in a sym
pathetic light. He gave invaluable counsel to Southern Bap
tist radio and TV leaders in Georgia and Fort Worth. Mr.
Moore has spoken in many Georgia Baptist churches. He is
active in the lay witness movement. He serves with his wife
in a downtown church ministry in a low-income section of
Atlanta. He was a power behind the historic "Behold The
Man" drama at Atlanta Stadium last fall
The Christian cause lost a real friend in the TV trade
when Ray Moore left WSB-TV. We salute him and WSB-TV
for his efforts. And we plead for more like him to open
wider the doors which he has helped to crack. He led TV
executives to see that religion is news and can be presented
creatively. A few pastors need to learn this truth and make
better use of radio and TV.—Christian Index.

Mr Moore has probably done as
much to get Christianity on the tele
vision screens of the nation as any
man in the Southeast. He has gained
national attention for his high-qual
ity programs dealing with religious
subjects.
He broke TV history with a 3.5-
hour documentary on man's quest
for God. called "The Search.” He
produced gripping programs on the
Holy Land. He consistently inter
