SUNDAY SCHOOL CELEBRATION.
Mrt. Editor-—P erhaps you would
like to hear from the Sabbath School
Colebration which was hold at Loudsvilio
Friday, October 14th. Though some
may think differently; but I for one, am
obliged to say it was a perfect success.
The morning was ono of those calm
and delightful ones, when ail drinking nature's
living creatures seemed to bo
in the puro mountain air. Tho leaves
on this beautiful Otober morning seemed
to laugh as the golden sunshine made
thorn sparkle, which added much to ibe
loveliness of the day.
It was about the eleventh hour when
your correspondent arrived at tho camp
ground where a number bed gathered
for tho occasion. The banners of tho sev¬
eral schools were floating in the air, and
on every one was inscribed something
like “Como to Jesus,'’ “Jesus loves me,’
“Little flock,'’ &c,
After tho schools had all arrived, they
formed and the procession marehod
around tho encampment: after which
they gathered under arbor.
The progrmme of the day was an¬
nounced by tho President, Rev, Mr.
Askow. Tho forenoon was spont in
singing and declamations by tho school
boys.
At noon the president proclaimed a
recess of duo hour, during which we
had tho pleasure of a grand repast. The
writer would acknowledge his thanks
for a full share of the delicacies which
were spread promiscuously around.
We had the pleasure of hearing
speeches from G. T. Abernathy aud
W. J. Evans, during the after services
which reflected credit to the speakers.
Rov. Air. Devors also delivered a very
interesting address, alter which Rev.
Mr. Askow was called, aud in response
delivered quite a comical but interesting
address, which caused some of the older
boys to grin, J. T. IL

A Scene In Mormoudom.
A correspondent of the Eureka Loa¬
der thus describes what he saw at Og
don, a railroad town in Utah, where a
number of Swedish immigrants wore
waiting to tako tho train to Brigham
City.
I was looking on wish great curiosity,
when 1 discovered a tow-headed, box
om girl weeping bitterly. Two or three
old women were scolding at her, aud a
withered up old Mormon stood with
his arm around her. He finally coaxed
her of!' to his wagon, she screaming and
crying that she would not marry him,
and he never letting go of her until he
set her down upon tho wagouMongue.
A giri was following them. I halted
her and asked what was the trouble.
She said that this girl was pledged to
tho old man and that he had paid her
passage oat: and now sho did not want
to marry him because ho already had a
wife and seven children- I asked if she
would be forced to do so. The girl re
plied-' “Of course she will. They
have pledged her to him.” Poor thing!
The last that I saw of her she was
struggling to got away from him, and
the withered old follow was holding on
with both arms around her. It is sick¬
ening to think of such doings in a civil
iced land Dark aa that girl's mind
was, she had some grains of virtue and
some delicate inatiucte. The despair
pictured on her face showed that.
There is a terrible account for our
country co settle with that poor girl.
England was lately stirred with indig¬
nation because girls fcere found to bo
inveigled from Loudon to Belgium for
immoral purposes: but what was done
there a few times is done here a tboir
rand times, and yet our country does
not- dynaaro the evil of polygamy.
God grant that Congress, on President
Garfield's advice, may find moans to
put dowQ the crime.
The lawyer who filed a bill, shaved a
note, cut an acquaintance, split a hair,
made an entry, got a case, framed an
indictment, impanneled a jury, put
them in a box, Dailed witness, hammer
