Norwood Rally at Waynesboro,
— Chronicle and Constitutionalist : The
Norwood rally yesterday at Waynesboro
was as complote a failure as ever was
known — as to nutubeisaud enthusiasm.
About. I o’clock yesterday the friends
of Gov. Colquitt were notified that we
would be allowed a division of time,
and that Gen. Wofford would speak at
2 o’clock, giving us just one hour pre¬
paration, for up to I o'clock wo had
thought from the numerous placards at
the street corners and cross roads that
Norwood, Lawton and Wofford would
be present and exhaust not only the
time, but the patience of any meeting,
so we intended to give them the entire
day. and had do idea of a division of
time until notified as before mentioned.
Upon the notification, the friends of
Colquitt reposing the utmost confidence
in Hon. J. J. Jones, even though called
upon without hardly a moment’s pre¬
paration, accepted the chalenge and at
the appointed lime met. General Wof¬
ford opened in great labor, and contin¬
ued without one single demonstration.
The entire audience numbered 7(1 by
actual count. Dr. J. A. Polhill will
verify this statement, as well as others
present, and three fourths of the meet
mg were Colquitt meu. Gen. Wofford
attacked Gov. Colquitt on the convict
system, and directed most of his res
marks to a few colored men in the au
dience. The General was on the wrong
side, and he looked like be felt it.
Col, Jones’ answer was a complete
refutation of all the charges made.
Among agents and families, the great de¬
mand now is for the light running Combina

the test, and is better made, with more im¬

having attained a. merited popularity among
the people for reliability, it is welcomed
wherever it makes its appearance. It is built
tor strength and constant hard work, has in
terchanga'ole working parts, manufactured of
line polished steel, and will run for years
without repairs: is simple to learn, ea s y to
manage, understood perfectly in an hour, and
alwaj s ready in a moment to do every descrip

more easily, smoothly and faster, and with less
labor than any other machine at any price,
