Mr. Editor: will you please publish the fact that on last Tuesday morning you received an order to print five hun¬ dred ‘Independent Democratic Tickets” with Hon. Emory Speer’s name attach ed, for Representative in the 47th Cons press and that you did so. But while you weie changing the type you, .n tho rush of business forgot to chango on all tho tickets the name from Be l to Speer, and did not discover tho mistake until you had printed 3(W or 400 tickets, with Bell’s name on thorn, headed ‘'Indepen¬ dent democratic ticket,'’ and that after you had soperated the Speer and Bell ticket, Dr. A. F- Underwood came into your oflieo and gathered up some two or three hundred of the tickets bean ed Independent and remarked that it was as good a ticket as he wanted, and oblige, W. K. willivms, There is a grand mistake in tho above article, from tho fact that there could not have been but one hundred and sixty^seveu tickets headed ‘Inde¬ pendent" with Boil’s name on them, if the whole lot had been printed, be- cause there were but three tickets in the form and only one of thorn had Independent on it. So if the Dr. had gathered up all that wore thrown down ho could not have reached a numbor beyond 75 or ooe hundred, and we know he did not get them all. TRUE DEMOCRACY. Mu. Editor: The Indepents have been howling about the street corner politicians and the town cliuuos, con¬ trolling tho politics of tbe country, that is the organized. Now tmwabout White county? How about lhe Town of Cleve¬ land? Speer has tho Town politicians. Cleveland is for Speer, But wo are glad that the sober thinking farmers of White county are for the peoples candi¬ date, Col. II. P, Bell. Tbo town cliques and the little tailroan towns howled for Norwood, but tho people were for CoB quitt. Now sir, the people are going to vote for Bell next Tuesday—mark the prediction. The old democratic county of White will roll up a &no ma¬ jority lor the peoplee candidate. Dem¬ ocrats come out Tuesday and vindicate your principles. Let us have a Con¬ gressman that we know which way his votes will bo cast. Don’t be bulldozed by tho Indopoudeuts. Vote for a true democrat. FARMER. Town Creek, October 2U 1880 SAD ACCIDENT. On iueeday 26th inst., little Frank, youngest child of ’.Lio Widow, Mrs. Martha Merritt, living near this placo, was almost instantly killed by a huge log rolling upon him at the saw mill James Glenn, two miles from town. From tho best information we can gather, little Frank, only live years age, bad accompanied Judge E. J. Houston, who was hauling a stock to tho mill, and, while in the act of rolling a heavy log, little Frank desiring to be of some service, attempted to assist, when the log suddenly rolled, carrying the child in front of it and rolling upon him, crushing his head and body in a most horrible manner, causing instant death. What a very important lesson should teach ns. Tuesday little Frank was in the onjoyment good health, and at the hour 3 the same day, he was mangled How little do wo know of the future Though iu the vigor of manhood, buoyant in health to day, may find us a eorpse. Then how portant it is that we bo ready to the summons of death, for we know how soon we may he called to stand be fore tbo righteous Judge to receive final and everlasting sentence. Wo deeply sympathize with tho reaved mother, and little sisters brother, and hope they will take ing by this saddiestof sad Our Saviour said on one occasion: “Sailer liulo children to eome nnto and forbid them not: for of such is Kingdom of Heaven.” May tho brother and sisters he prepared to little Frank in the elimes of bliss.
