Mr Bartlett's Resolution.
The resolution introduced in the
IIouso by Hon. C. L. Bartlett, one ol
our representatives, iu investigate the
authority by which the Georgia Pacific
railroad is using the right of way ol the
Western nnd Atlantic, had not been
acted upon up to the close ol Friday’s
session.
A privilege that was regarded as
cheap at a quarter of a million of dol-
lore, was awarded to tho Georgia Pa
cific by Gov. Colquitt lor tho sum ol
one thousand dollars.

The group of islands about which
Spain and Germany seem to be upon
the point ol flying to arms, lie south
east of Asia, and just north of New
Guinea. They are not, as an invest
ment, specially profitable, nor are they
as insignificant as some authorities
would have it believed.
These islands number about six hun
dred, and some are not only inhabited,
out self-sustaining. The London Stand
ard gives this description:
The Caroline group lies north ol New Guinea,

Before the train had gone ten miles
the commercial traveler had courteous
handed the old man an
illustrated paper, the portly passen

motherly old lady had peeled him an
orange, and a little girl was sitting in
his lap asking him questions. One
touch of humor proves the world akin.

Water, From an Atlanta Standpoint.
