The membrane ous lining of an egg, as every one knows, is composed af albumen, both of which are used by photographers in making their prints^, These eggs wero small and had thiu shells, aud the supposition is that the sunlight produced a chemical action of the gelatine and albumen whereby the print in the paper was transferred to the white of the egg. It is desirable that in all e.ises tin* regis ters shall he civilians where it is possible to obtain such ns conic within die provisions of the act, and are otherwise suitable per sons; aud that military ottieers shall not be used for this purpose except in ease of ac tual necessity. The compensation for reg isters will Im* fixed lu/reafler, hut the general rule will he observed of graduating the com pensation by the number ol recorded voters, To each list of voters shall lie appended the oath of the register or registers that the names have been faithfully recorded nml represent actual legal voters, aud that the * same man does not appear under ditterent names. The registers are specially instruc ted to see that all information concerning their political rights is given to all persons entitled to vote under the Act of Congress; and they are made responsible that every such legal voter has the opportunity to re cord his name. III. As speedily as possible,the names ot persons chosen for registers shall be com- mmiicuted to these headquarters, for thong- proval of the commanding general. IV.
