Physicians’ Meeting.
At a meeting ofc.ths Physicians of Albany, vJOm
and vicinity, held April 27th, 1887, in the city ol
Albany, Dougherty county, whioh was then nnd
there organised os “The Albany Medioal Society
The following resolutions, relative to medical con-
Iriots with freedoms, wece adopted, and ordered to
be printed monthly for the space of three months.
Whereas, the following resolution was unanimous
ly adopted by tbs Medioal Asfoolatlon of the 8pt^e
of Georgia lately In ooonoll assembled, to-wit.; \
"Buoloed, That In the opinion of this Axrfbcialion
there is no breach of the Code of Mfcdioal Retries
governing the Vrofeaddn/or Physioinns to oontrnct
with ownen or agents of Plantations fbr the 'treat
ment of Freedman Jn their employ. Provided, that
in eaob oily, oounty or neighborhood, uniformity
of chargee be observed and underbidding avoided/’
Therefore be It—
Retained, That for the purpose of carrying out in
good fielth the Proviso of the Association in atom-
tning tlu^privilege granted to the Physiclana of this
State by that resolution, a committee of 5 ho ap
pointed by the Chairman to draft a Fee . Dill of
charges for oontriets, whioh shall he submitted to
this meeting for ratification. Passed.
* That it is to be distinctly understood, That such
contracts are not with the freedmett, but with the
planter, who in eaoh and every iuatanoe.shell be the
responsible party, and who shall bind himself iu
writing (at the option of the Physician) to the ful
filment or the some. Passed.
Rttolitd 8rf, That to obtain perfect uniformity in
rates of changes, and to.prevcnt all underbidding
among Physicians, the following rates of chargee
for contracts be, and the same is hereby appended
to tho Fee Bill that is now in use. Passed.
Retoivtd, That in oases of conrraet for aitendanoo
on freedmen, the charge shall be at least the amouut
of out visit and mileage in each caso contracted for,
at the rate of one dollar per mile In going, and two
dollars per visit and prescription.
