We proposo to send the Tri- Wbeklv News to nelv stil)scribt!rB, till the end ot'lho first volume, about ten weeks, for #2, This will enable the sceptical to try us, and ofliird to every man in Albany an opportunity to demonstrate whether he is for Al bany and her progress, or not. If there be any too much embar rassed to pay the subscription, we will cheerfully send them the paper free, if they will state tho fact and give us their names.] If there bcunVj who arc able to subscribe, and art too mean and stingy to tako their own city pnpor, (hut's nil we want to know about them. Thb Inchrmkvi.—The render* and patrons of the Newt iui»> enngrmulnto themselves nml tie, on the nttparallelled succos* of our enterprise. We found tbe IneliluUon literally'dead—with lete llien three hundred dullere of business in lie column*, end the proprietor* hopclet* of improvement. Breathing new life into it* lungs, end infuniug cuergy into the rnterpriio, we Itevr the satisfaction of set-lug it re vive, grow strong, 'Hid lake itn piece in the reukeof journsliim, n healthy, vigorous, progressive competitor for publio furor. In one short month the deed end non-peying metier k hee^diseppeered from our columns, end to dey we ere compelled, for tbe went of rot m. to fasue the "first-born" of sue cess, which we christen the "Increment." "Tis no supplement, but e pert end pnroel of the present sheet, end beers evidence of henltliy parturition end bounoing bebyhootl. The News hits been oth erwise meterielly iwproved—pertleulsHy in up Iterance. By diligent effort end total disregard of tiptiw, we here finally succeeded in presenting e eleen sheet, artistically executed, end entirely comely to look upon. Meny of our frieuds desire, end expect us to cm iovge, end we confess to thu weakness of eoibltloos leeping, oureeivei; but it ie noeaey job to enlarge e newspaper, end it ieattemled with no smell expense. To do it, we shsll be compelled to procure a large composing stone, larger t heses, and longer column rules, et a considerable outlay, and the lose of one or two issues of the papa.*. Nevertheless, the en largement depends mainly upon our patrons—If subscriber* will come forward ptotnpily, and pxy even one-half the amount they owe; nud advertising patrons will respond when called upon, we will meet their demands, and give them a shed «i big at a ten acre cotton patch it they want It. Help us out of tbe woods, and theft- shall be no ••fitful dish es," bat a continued blais from this office. Oa lhe first of Delphi* we have a paJSsent to makeonlhie establishment, and our friends are earnestly invoked notlo nek*, Vry faces, if they ere requested to give na a lift. The Question Settled. The some-time doubtful question as to when and where Johnny would cell his nigger convention to gather, is at last rallied. After whereeileg that an order was issued to bold an eleotiog In tkt State of (leorgla, for delegates to a convention; and another ••whereas" that said election jrae held, the inevita ble John promulgcs ••General Orders No. 89," which convenes said convention, at Atlanta, en Monday, l^e 9th dey of Dreeiuber next, when the delegates elect will ••proceed to frtrao a cohfetUntlon and elvil government for die State of Georgia. 11 It is further speeifled Ibst raid constitution, when so framed, shall be submitted to the Registered vo ters of die Slat* for ratification^ So, we are to have the plague upon us. Well, let It come ; wc have suffered long and patiently, end if this bitter cup u uat be commended to our lips, the hardening process through which we have pas*, •d from liberty io slavery, may bear us through ih« 01 deal U, how pitiable la ihr sperlscic presentsd to the world, by this official Liliiput and his robber bend Prostituting hit- high office to bn*c purposed, and the dignity of muk to petty tyiMUtiy, he ha pluugcd, full-leufth, iut<> the pool of radicalism and. witli all the slime and tilili of its gaogrenuu pertridity rtrkiug from his official mantle, he con sorts with the vile, and conspires with the damned Bleeped so deep io crime and infamy that he dan- not pause or turn back, he invokes tho charmer <*l rulsebiff, end calls together "Black spirits and white, irJis and grey.' Conaerclal Fen Hirers. We would call tfc*Vt**tfo* of our readers to tba article ia this issue from the Baltimore Sum. The subject ie not one te be confined to the tillera of tha soil. Farming li the grand foundation ef all trade* and employments, and, ignore It as we may, its every movement Is fait Ihroughont the whole struc ture of poliUeal economy. Other employments are all, as it were, laterally dependent on eaoh other for strength end vigor; bnt they nro sustained by, and must inavitably fall without, the support of tho great ground teork—tha cultivation of the soil. If such be tho foot—and who doubts It!—shonld not all of ne, of whatever calling, leal deeply Inter ested in this vital subject ? For farming (w* use tbe tenn^ln its broadest sense) to maintain stability, It must be profitable, 4ml to be profitable, it moet advance, port point, with other a.ocatioae. The Great Architect of the universe bae written chasox on all blit Himself, and that which does not adea&c* must retrograde—decay Our farmers seem slew to letrn this grand, phi! osophlcal, moral truth ; and with a sort of mistaken reverence for, or blind faith in, lb# custom* of thel- ancestors, are too loth to forsake them, and advance with the rapid, mighty changes of art and nature, which (hey cannot but etc around them. It really seems, to a contemplative mind, that Providence has bran, for the last few years, a d is using special mean* to make our farmers abandon their system of cultivating tbe soli. What these means are, Ts too evldeut to be recited. Tho ques tions to be studied are: IVbal are we to do ? How conform to thle great change of elrcumeteuces ?— Too many are practically answering theie questions by removing tho stones from tha base of the atruc- ture, and placing them on top, thereby endangoring the.stability—ay, Insuring the destruction, of the whole fabric. Thousands in the South are forsak ing the first, the noblest, the moot important oalling of man, and engaging in others entirely dependent on the euccess of the former. Can this be the teach ing of Wisdom T Do not Jump at conclusions ; look well at lb# con ditions of tbe problem, and then us* the faculties with whieh you are endowed, for it# eolution. Yon have been deprived of the labor which you called your own, and with which yon cultivated (?) your hundreds of acres. You borrowed oapital, many of you, bought labor, and still cultivatedyour hun dreds of acres; and the result is, that the products or this bought labor, aud theso many acres, will not reimburse your creditors. Perhaps U would b# a* well to abandon this un produotiv* labor, and the larger portions of your unproduotlveftelde—if you cannot otherwise dispose of them—aud try the experiment of a more Ibor ough cultivation of a much less area. Nor wouldr this be a mere experiment; for you would follow in tbe wake of those who have gone before you end achieved entire eueoera. The wAt/s farming world dooi not try to stand in itatu quo; but Europe and the northern portion of our owu country, are using the developments ef Miens* and experiment to the abnndaat Increase of Ike products of a given area of soil. The meant need are do secret. They are published for the benefit of all who will profit by them. There are books fur those who would eclen (Ideally Investigate the u-Ay and the tchtrtfori; end there Is an abundant stock of Information published relative to the practical results of soisotifle end em piric farming. Man should not forgot that he Is possessed of an intellectual as well as physical existence ; that the former controls the latter; and that to perform its functions it must have food end exercise. Tho far uier will find mental food in agricultural works, palatable, wholesome, invigorating, profitable; or, if he is opposed to thiory, he will find sufficient ex ercie* in disclosing Its fallacies. The necessary chauges in the preseut system of production, are to bo made in the quantity of soil cultivated. Ite preparation, aad after cultivation, and the quantity and quality of nourishment fur nished the plaits. To tako up (he last, first, wo would not adriso the, Indiscriminate purchase of commercial fertilisers; that would be fol y ; but, that the prudent use o specific manures is profitable, even at the present exhorbitant prices, is beyond controversy. Our ob ject is not to recommend any particular kind of fer tilisers at preseal, but to beg farmers of every de scription, as well as those who are not profitably engaged otherwise, to uee the lights before them, and study this vital subject* Wc shall recur toil again, and frequently.
