RAIROAD TALK. The committee appointed v .vi11 sued circulars to people r siding in different parts of the comity this week, setting forth the reasons why every man should* assist'in getting the projected Railroad com¬ pleted. The people in -every section of the countyj.speak favorably of it,’ 'and ' all say they will help according to their several abilities. A Railroad was built last year from Macon to Valdosta, through what we term the back counties; and as a consequence, that section lias developed more rapidly than any part of Georgia. Ijoi of land in the county, ; hat sold three years ago, for less than a dollar an acre, now bring three to five. People residing in different parts of the county have already sub , and about one-half of the amount ( -ecjuirecl has already been nad-, up. ThVToad C. R. E. to Statesboro should bp the poopi'D road—should belong to the citizens ol Bul !:, ch, so tlia f they can control it, and to that end, let every •XML IX'. to help even a small amount, come to Statesooro on the first Monday in March. On that day the gentlemen who are pushing the enterprise will be present, and let opr people encourage them with their pvc-eunee and help. The peo¬ ple who were disappointed at the “busting” of the Savannah and Du Jin R. R. should l'e member that the Railroad now on foot is a short Rail¬ road, and that it don’t take much capital to build it; that the proposed Railroad from Dover, now being grad¬ ed, is backed by men who live at home, and who feel an interest in its success. We get no pay, or hope of reward, for writing up the D. and $• R. R., but wt do it free, with the hope that it might en courage some body to come in, and help out an enterprise c nt of not only ourselves, but of those who are to live after vve have been removed from rhe stage of action. ..Thj^iyeij, who built the Central Rail¬ road have long ago passed away, and we of the present age are enjoying the fruits of ineir lauors, -»- ITEMS FROM ZOAR I am glad to see some improve¬ ment in the make up of tho local columns of the Eagle.
