Tne supreme court has at last
reached the Statesboro special tax
case, and decided with Judge Gam¬

Consequently the marshal is now
making tho round collecting from
those affected by the ordinance
who had delayed paying until the
case was settled. The present
council, as stated some weeks ago,
has decided to repeal the ordinance
from this date, and is only col¬

from the time of the enactment
of the ordinance, until the present
date.

Could Not Try Her.
Just before going to press this
(Friday) evening, the Ordinary
had before him the mostpronou>
ed case of insanity we have ever
seen. The subject is a Mrs.
Dubois, who was brought up this
morning from the Bay District by
constable Donaldson. A large
crowd Las been attracted to the
court house by her idiotic capers,
and all are agreed that she is far
crazier than the proverbial bed-bug.
She is never still for a minute, but
is constantly wriggling in her
chair, swinging her hands and
making the most hideous faces
and spitting the while; or she is
prancing up aud down the floor
as a young girl dancing, peering
idiotically at any person who
moves or speaks, and occasionally
passing a threatening lick at any
body ,who happens to be in
reach.
The woman is a new-comer iu
the county, having moved up from
Savannah about three months ago.
The husband is now confined to
his bed with severe illness, and as
there were no other relatives who
could testify in the case, the Ordi¬
nary could not legally go into a
trial. Constable Donaldson will
therefore keep her in custody until
the necessary papers can be pre¬
pared. She is now in jail.
The woman is understood to have
been slightly unbalanced for some
weeks, but was taken suddenly
worse Monday, since which time
she has been raving as today.
We are now in our new building
with a full and complete line of
Buggies, Wagons, Harness, Furni¬
ture and Stoves, and are prepared
to make the very lowest possible
prices. J. W. Olliff & Co.
