Byron Scarboro and tyleldrim Simmon have returned to Griffin to be mustered out with the Chatham artillery, to which they belong. Messrs. Greene Johnston, Judge J. B. Lee and R. L. Moore were the election managers, and Messrs. Van Tyler, W. J. Ellis and T- A. Oimstead were the clerks. Dr. L. J. McLean lost his littlo baby last Tuesday. It was only about one week old, when it died and was buried at Matter. k Miss Sarah Carter is at the Don¬ aldson hotel dress making. Prices reasonable. 10-7 4t The election was remarkably quiet for such a large contest and bo many people here. \Ve never heard of a single arrest and saw but little drunkenness. We are indebted to Mr. J B. Ben net for some fine sugar cane. While we were morally certain that the democrats would carry the election by a safe majority the land slide has been so complete that we can hardly compose our jubilant feelings long enough to write up the returns. The boys have come home from the war. The greater part of them took discharges, but some of them including Mr. Willie Fulcher are home ou furloughs and will return very soon to do garrison duty if the flrrt regiment is not mustered 09t. Mr. J. G. Blitch has opened up a dressmaking business. Madam Thompson, a very accomplished lady who has been engaged in this kind of work for years both at the porth and at Valdosta, Ga. will have charge of this department, and wo feel sure 1 hat you can be fitted if you give her a trial.
