THE NEW YEAR.
It is customary for newspaper* to
have something to say about the New
Year, hot owing to our limited s^aee
and scarcity of time we shall make
our remarks brief. First, let us all,
both great and small, thank the Great
I Am for blessings In** to wed upon us
iu permitting us to see the dawn of the
Ptescu L y ea r, and enjoy the holidays
iu fHftbr health, and in pence with
all inan kind. Bless our minister who
have recently pitched his tent among
us and his household, and most espe¬
cially his predecessor who h:u> labored
so zealously among tut for three con¬
secutive years who have gone to a
new field of labor and carries the
good will of the people of Blackshear
to his new home. Bless the bereaved
everywhere, especially in our midst
who have recently been deprived of
near and dear relatives; blet-s the or¬
phans that have been left motherless.
Remember us aud permit us to keep
our health and our enterprise, we hope,
will be a sucoess
If we, iu our journalistic experience
have done or said any one amiss that
tends to inar the feelings of an) one,
or to raise a barier to our success, we
now recall it and will make any amen
that can l»e reasonable asked of us.
In the future w* propose to adopt a
new rule of managing our business or
rather carry out the old rule more sys
tematio than we have the past year—
that is, shall endeavor to collect for
sub. and ads. in advance.
May the farmers and every other
class of business be a success, and our
laud yield an abumlaut support aud
peaco and plenty prevail.
Mr. J. N. Ilighsmith of Lulaton,

Brantley with himself iu his general

It is simply useless for us to say any
thing about the necessity of money to
make business a complete success for
you all have knowledge enough ot
your own affairs to know that it lakes
money to accomplish any thing. It is
even more so when you commence a
business and have not the money on
hand to run you and have to depend
upon the income arising from your
business for tuaintalliance. Remit
the above amount at once and oblige
yours, most respectfully.
