The schools then formed and march
ed to a special table ia the grove while
the balance of the congregation were in
vited to partake of the feast. The dif
ferent tables aggregated over 175 feet in
length and were loaded with good!
things. There was fish, flesh and fowl
in the greatest plenty, while of breads,
cakes, pastries, etc,, there was no hick
—all prepared in the best manner
known to the art of cookery. There
was plenty for all the multitude, and
many baaketsfnlleft over. Every one
was highly delighted with the occasion,
and pronounced it a crand success.
Many barrels of lemonade were dis
pensed free as water, and the afternoon
was pleasantly passed in conversation
andsinging.
It is proper to say that the singing I
by the Sunday school children, led by
several scientific vocalists, was excep
tionally good ,and the melodious strains
were the theme of universal compli- i
ment. All the yonng people acted
then parts well, and the ex tempore
addresses were appropriate and well
timed.
We are under especial obligations to
Mr. George IL Potter, Superintendent,
Mr. W. P. Dixon, and others foil kind
attentions.
The people of the neighborhood, as
well as the operatives of the Factory,
will long remember the 24th of May.
1S79, as cne of the most delightful holi
days of their lives.

Symptoms of a Diseased Liver.
P AIN m the right side, under the

side: the patient is rarely able to lie
on the left side; sometimes the pain is
felt under the shoulder blade, and it
frequently extends to the top of the
shoulder, and is sometimes mistaken
for rheumatism in the arm. The
stomach is affected with loss of appe
tite and sickness; the bowels in gen
eral are costive, sometimes alternative
with lax; the head is troubled with
pain, accompanied with a dull, heavy
sensation in die back part. There is
generally a considerable loss of mem
ory, accompanied with a painful sen
sation of having left undone some
thing which ought to have been done.
A slight, dry cough is sometimes an
attendant The patient complains of
weariness and debility; he is easily
startled, his feet are cold or burning,
and he complains of a prhkly sensa
tion of the skin; his spirits are low;
and aldiough he is satisfied that exer
cise would be beneficial to him, yet
he can scarcely summon up fortitude
enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts
every remedy. Several of the above
symptoms attend the disease, but cases
have occurred where few of them ex
isted, - yet examination of the body,
after death, has shown die liver to
have been extensively deranged.
AGUE AND FEVER.
Dr. C. McLane’s Liver Pills, in
cases of Ague and -Fever, when
taken with Quinine, are productive of
the most happy results. No better
cathartic can be used, preparatory to,
or after taking Quinine. We would
advise all who are afflicted with this
disease to give them a fair trial.
For all bilious derangements, and as
a simple purgative, they are unequaled.

The bearer of the official document
teemed to be a regular official of the
band, and made the necessary oath that
a crime had been committed, so Judge
Nottingham issued a warrant for assault
ith intent to murder. But instead of
letting the beloved brethren execute the
warrant, sent the efficient County Court
Bailiff, Mr. W. H. O’Pry, who found
the accused parties, two negro boys,
and brought them up. On investiga
tion it was found that they had acted
entirely in stlf-defense in resisting a se
rious assault, and that they had nar
rowly escaped lynching at the hands of
the Bund of beloved Brethren. The
prisoners were discharged, and Judge
Nottingham gave the beloved brethren
some advice about taking the law into
their own hands which they would do
well to abide by in the future. Some
of the witnesses in the ease had evi-
dentlv been instructed by the club how
they should swear.
