THE FAIR GROUNDS.
The past week has been an active one
at the Houston County Fair Grounds
The sound of the hammer and saw have
made merry music, and the progress
has been very considerable. The
hippodrome is about completed and will
add mack to the conyenience of the
visitois, especially the ladies. It will
comfortably seat quite an assemblage,
and give an excellent view ot the style
ring, while it will afford a good shelter
from sunshine and rain. The agricult
ural buildin g will be considerably en
larged by the erection of a large shed
the whole length; and from present in
dications it seem likely that all the room
that can be provided will be required
The noise stalls and stock pens will
soon be rebuilt and a larger number
than ever before. This part of the ex.
kibit will be a notable feature, for many
fine animals lave already been
given notice of as intending to be en
tered. From what we can learn the la
dies departments will be far more fully
represented than ever before. Inqui
ries and advices from different
parts of Houston as well as adjoining
counties are comiLg in constantly.
