The survivors are scattered to the fsnr corners of the world,. There are two of them in Augusta, and many others in Various sections of the United States. Gang of Bobbers.—An. ex-member of tho Alnbama Legislature named Cockrell was arrested recently upon suspicion, and it has since been ascer tained that he was the leader of a gang of robbers that have been committing depredations in the central part of the state for several yearn. His band con sists mainly of negroes, and the rob bery of the Greene County treasury lead to pursuit, capture and exposure. In Cockrell’s house.$6,500 of the money and several thousand in bonds and se curities stolen from the Treasurer’s of fice were found. He always took his gun with him, and once, finding that some ofiha family had taken it out, he would not go withont it. His friends called him, saying that there was no danger of the Indians, us he would not die till his time come, anyhow. “Yes” said he, “but suppose I was to meet air Indian and bis time had come to die, it would nokdo not to have my gnn.” A tramp got a new snit of clothes ont <©f the Sidney, O., authorities in a very .original way. He committed some light offense, for which he was put in jail. As soon ashe was behind the bars he deliberately took off his clothes and cut them into shreds, including his boots. Of course, a new snit had to be purchased for him so he could ap pear for triil. A prominent New York man, when on his death Led, requested his friends to attend his funeral dressed in white. He had probably a large lot of white goeda on hand which he - hoped his widow would ho able to dispose of to help pay fnnerel expenses.
