its first anniversary at the court house

Preparation s had been going on for
several days, and the Kuigkts and friends
were anticipating a grand time, and
their most sanguine expectations wore
more than realized. No general in vita
turns were issued, but each member nad
the privilege of in vi ting just such friends

tickets from the committee on paying
for them, the money obtained thereby
going to the expenses of the anniversa
ry, without taxing the lodge treasury.
Over three hundred tickets-were]thu« is
sued, and nearly all the invited guestB
honored the occasion with their pres
enoe.
The members of the order met at
their lodge at half past seven, and form
ing in proeession with their, neatand
attractive badges, they marched to ; the

constituted this lodge one year ago and
in whose honor it was named, was in

the great advantages of the order, its
great feature of life insurance and an

Rev. T. C. Boykin opened the question
Box, and answered several interesting
and important queries. The business
session of the the convention Was then
announced as closed by President Niles,
who is one of the the most zealous,
able and effective Sunday sohool work
ers in-the State.
On Sunday morning we attended
Sunday School at the First Baptist
church. It was a glorious sight to st-e

odd teachers, .beside other officers of
the school, all joyfully and earnestly
devoting their minds to the, study and
teaching of the great truths of the Gos
pel. The school is presided over by
Mr. 0. B. Eilis, whose whole hfeart,is
in.it, and: he .is peculiarly gifted and
