possessor of a literary treasure w inch
has since afforded me much gratification
and amusement.- “The Rules of Civili

the title of the work which has brought
up this train of ideas, and its perusal

It is a well understood fact among farmers who
have used the Avery Plow, that they are imple
ments that arc not only well made, but that they
are made out of the very best material, whether of
steel, castings or timber.
Nothing of an inferior quality is allowed to go into
the Plow, and farmers who buy the genuine Avery
Plow know they can always rely upon what they arc
getting—a first-class implement in every respect.
The models are such as a lifetime in the business
has taught to be the beat; are after their own de
sign, and are well-known for their lightness of draft.
The Cast Plows are made from pig metal of from
seven to ten different varieties of cold and hot
blast, so that the greatest possible strength if
tained. A test bar *s kept for this purpose, from
which e daily lecord is made.
This bar is poured at the same time the other
casting arc made, and in case the oar is not upto
the standard, all the castings are melted over again.
All Steel Plows have thoroughly hardened mold-
boa; ds. Farmers are requested to test these mold-
boards by using a good file either on the surface or
ou the edge.
If the plow is easily filed, the quality is poor.
Points and landsides are all duplicates, being fit
ted in the works to the original plow.
The timbei used is “butt cuts,” the toughest oak
from Kentucky and Indiana bottom lands.
These are facts made known for the benefit of
farmers who bavonc-er used the Avery Plow; those
who have used them already know their merits.
