heart, to begin with, 160 bales of

tee seasons. "We wiH have 150
.seres of eottqh with 'guano alone
on it—SGff pounds per sere—
which, if the year were favorable,
would make'75 bales. : Now you
see, Mr. Editor, the wind work is
done, and if we succeed, we must
use some sense and a good deal of
push and energy.
We plant our com te rows 7
feet apart, and 21 feet in drill, and
fertilize with 26G; pounds of guano
per acre: prepare by breaking-
with heavy 2-horse plows,- and:
cultivate:, with, scrape and sweep.
We break oar cotton land the same

apart, and cut out the width of a
hoe, leaving from 2 to three stalks
in n hxH; cultivate with scrape and
sweep. . The crop should be kept
free from grass and. weeds, or they

the erojte Cotton should be plow

will pay, generally, (say one year
with another.) to sweep it nicely
te August after we have pulled
our rodder; it keeps down crow
foot grass, which grows up very
often, and is terribly te the way
while picking, and destroys the late
crop.. After aH, grass ; and weeds
are the greatest-enemies to • crops.
I never hope to make a good crop
if it gets grassy. I am volunteer
ing this advice to yofifig farmers,
hoping that,it may probably do
them some good.
Corn: if neglected te the spring,
and loses its color for the. want of
work, wiH nav er makes good crop.
Cotton wilt raHy to some exteeat
and come again, but com wiH not:
if it is. neglected te. fehe spring, it
wiH be permanently injured. We
should raise all the peas we can,
for the vines' are a splendid fertili

making peas unless. I plant them

We usually plow our- com four

Trust in Providence for sunshine

Croakers eay; farming wiH not

If we take'the croakers 7 advice,
