Mr. Lev Adams, c4 Hawkins- ville, has been a ’great sufferer from asthma. long since one •of his -friends suggested a novel remedy to him. It was to get a hornet’s nest, boil it and make tea; out of and di iuk the tea. His: friend knew of au old negro, many yea>s ago, who 'had cured himself in this way. As Mr. Adams had tried many things iu vain. Ire de termined to give this a trial. Af-; ter some effort, he prooared a hoivj Wet’s nest and boiled it. The tea that it made was a dark-looking liquid, very much like coffee in. appearance^ Mr. -Adams drauk the tea for awhile, and has not had asthma since. Mr. N. T. Johnson also tried it, after hearing of- this, case, and while he has not been cured, he has not yet been cured, he Jhas beau greatly relieved. Mr. Bent, who is president of a large steel works to be erected near Baltimore, says he will want 1,000,000 tons of Bessemere ore, which he import from Cuba or the Mediterranean. Under the pres ent tariff he must pay a duty of 75 cents a ton or $To0,000 a year on this ore. This tax will increase the cost of the steel rails which Mr. Bent proposes to make §1.50 a toD, and he rightly considers that the duty on ore is practically a tax feu the benfit of his foreign com petitors.
