As the Judge, of Dennard Dots,
has had his say about J. B. Gor
don, we would like to say a word
two. We always praise the
bridge that carries us over safely.
We cannot place J. B. Gordon in
line with Napoleon. Gen. Gordon
was a hero, and he has sense
enough to be a statesman. He
never forgot the poor, ragged sol
dier, and will never forget the poor
Georgia farmer. . He never placed
a private soldier where he would
not go himself. When necessary
to wade a creek he would dismount
and wade with the soldiers. When
in battle, he never remained be
hind and pushed them to the front,
but he always went to the front
and asked the soldiers to follow
him. On one occasion, when we
came in too late to get rations, our
captain said he was sorry, but we
most do the best we conld without
rations for five days. The colonel
told us the same, but an applica
tion to J. _B. Gordon secured the
rations. He never forgot 0 the
needs of the poor when he was a
hero, and will not forget them in
time of peace. May peace forever
remain in our country, and J. B.
Gordon in office in behalf of the
people.

The election e£ Gov. Gordon to
the United States Senate is not so
sare as some thought some time
ago. If he conldn’t live on the
salary of a senator when he was
there before, I can’t see how he
can live on it now. He sold out
before, regardless of his friends
who put him there, and might sell
againif he gets the chance. We
don’t want a man who thinks more
of a few dollars than he does of
his constituents.

Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Cbann, died
of typbo-malarial fever in Emanu

Clifton was an extraordinary
child; his mental powers were far
in advance of his age. He was in

him; the idol of his mother and
the pride of bis father, but that
bright, happy spirit has taken its
flight from this world of sin and
sorrow, and has joined his little
brothers and sisters who proceed
ed him to his Heavenly Home.
Five children, and all in Heaven.
What an incentive to father and
mother to meet them there! Just
before Clifton’s death he said:
“Mother, you oannot live without
me, meet me in Heayen.” “Yes,
my child, I will meet yon there, 1
was the mother’s reply.
While nnconcions, and after
losing sight of this world, his lit
tie spirit was filled with rapture at
some Heavenly vision. Perhaps
he was in sight of . the Golden
City. He made every demonstra
tion of joy that & dying child cobid

fully passed away. He that said;
“Suffer little children to come an

him unto Himself. Blessed Savior!
